72 years old and still flushing

I was on and off HRT over a period of 20 years. Had a hysterectomy at 45 and was back on HRT 6-9 months after as the sweats and flushes returned. I have been on tablets, Patches, Gel, and implants over the years as when one type stopped working I was given something different. The implants worked the best but they stopped giving them after a couple of years so I went back on the Gel. I came off all medication 3 years ago but am still having the flushes and sweats. My doctor said I could still get them into my 70's and here I am . Sometimes my I feel if my head a hole in the top you would see the steam escaping!!! Anyone else still like this in your 70's?

Hi Janet, I had severe hot flushes and night sweats when i had my menopause aged 50. After trying a variety of herbal remedies i eventually went on hrt and stayed on it until i developed breast cancer in 2015. i had a mastectomy and am now fine but of course the hot flushes came back. I was referred to a menopause clinic where i tried 3 different medications which didn't work. I'm now 70 and still having hot flushes. HRT is the only thing that works but as it is tied to increased risk of breast cancer, and I've already had it there's no way a doctor will prescribe it.

      Hi PGtips11,

Thank you for sharing that. I attended the HRT clinic for a few years until they stopped doing the implants in my tummy area. Then I was referred back to my surgery. I came off HRT for a few months before going on the gel which was the last one. Years ago I used the evening primrose and other homeopathy treatments. 2 years ago my doctor prescribed high blood pressure tablets, but I had a reaction to it after just one, so gave up then. Just put up with it and get on with it now 🙄

Just turned 60 in February and still "restarting the count"....

Checkups normal, hysteroscopy normal, huge fibroid though. Guess its full of estrogen n causing small periods...periodically. No pun intended

    Annoying as hell
