A cold for 18 months

Hi, I am a 40year old sickle cell patient, my health had improved & I was optimistic about the future but unfortunately for the last 18 months, I just want to die & I pray each night that I never wake up because of a cold or ?
For the last 18 months, I have used nasal sprays, antihistamines, pain killers & whatever I read on the internet but nothing is working, I am more miserable than I was with several sickle crisis a year.
Each night, I believe I won't wake up because I struggle breathing, my noise has been blocked for 18 months & is so painful, the stress has increased my sickle cell crisis & my GP after all this this, has just decided to send me to CT & ENT in a couple of months from now.
I have lived with pain all my life & sort of got used to it but this has made me come to a decision, I don't want to live anymore because I don't think there is anything that can cure me.
Does anyone out there, what might be causing someone to have a cold or cold symptoms for such a longtime?

Sorry to hear that the congested nose has caused you so much stress and pain. Don’t yet give up because this can be sorted out and the cause can be found.
There are many possible causes of congestion. Some are structural in nature. Maybe polyps grew within the nose and these can be removed. Perhaps changes to your septum has caused it to block airway and that too can be corrected. Other causes could be allergy sensitivities. I was surprised by the sudden congested nose I had at age 51 and to finally discover that it is due to allergies. The allergies had caused my sinus to be all gunked up (do insist on a 3D CT scan which scans from front to back of sinus).
So, have hope and look forward to seeing the ENT and getting that CT scan done. Take it step by step. I admire your strength to work through these many months already. If you have time, look through some videos and blogs of people who also had very bad nose congestion. These encouraged me when I was dealing with my congestion. I had a surgery done and made changes to my household items to deal with allergies and am now feeling much better, with congestion much more manageable. My surgery was 2.5mths back. All the best Wilson. Have hope and take it step by step. Cheers.
