A question after my second surgery

    So, I last posted a couple of weeks ago after my first lens replacement in my R eye. While the surgery went well, I was nervous because , post surgery,not only was my near vision bad ( I expected that) , but the intermediate vision as well. I saw an opthalmologist in the office , my vision in the right was 20/25, and my retina looked fine. I have a history of serous retinopathy, so multifocals were not an option for me. The ophthalmologist who saw me that day was not my surgeon, but he told me that it was common to have intermediate problems and that once my second eye was done, the eyes should balance out.

Today, prior to my left eye lens replacement, my surgeon said" we're going to correct for distance in this eye, right?" I voiced my concerns, but we agreed to correct for distance..

     The surgery went well. I realize that I am only 2 hours out, but  I can still read fairly well (or at least see up close) with my left eye. The right (first) eye can still see well for distance.

I looked at the replacement lens powers, the right is 16.5D, the left 18.5D. What does that mean? Did he end up giving me blended vision? If my left distance vision improves, and I can still read with my left eye, I will be thrilled.

I seem to remember s/p surgery on the right eye that the distance vision was pretty good right away, but then again the cataract in that eye was much more severe.
