I Had My Hip Replacement When I Was 17 It Was A Year Later That The Hip Was Under Recall Before The Recall Was Issued I Was In So Much Pain And I Kept Telling My Orthopedic Doctor He Stated It Was A Mind Thing So I Tried Seeing Other Doctors No One Wanted To See Me Or Even Look Into It Because The Doctor Who Did The Surgery Was Well "Respected" Finally I Found A Doctor Who Took My Case He Stated That The Hip Implant Had Shifted And That It Was Too Big For Me So On February 5th 2015 I Had My Revisions Surgery I Am Dealing With The Horrible Pain But Hopefully It Pays Off... So My Question Is Can I Sue The First Doctor And The Manufacturer Or Do I Have To Choose One Or The Other Because They Both Deserve What That Get I Am 21 That Doctor I Trusted With My Life Had Me Feel As I Was Crazy For 4 Years...

You went through unnecessary pain and mental mental trauma . Find a good solicitor who specialises in this field. Write everything dates etc doctors names what they said just write as much as you can remember hunni. Good luck and let us know how you get on please

It wasn't your fault that the wrong size of implant was fitted, they should have checked and x-rayed you first.  Find a good solicitor who specialises in medical negligence and personal injury cases.  My boss used to do it and he was exceptionally good at it, but of course he has since retired and so have I.  Are you in the UK?  If you are, The Law Society will have a list of Solicitors and they may be able to recommend one in your area.

I am not in the UK I am in the US... So like I forgot to explain on here its not about the money if you ask me when people told me to find an attorney I was upset but now looking at all I have been through which Im sure I am not the only one made me think... As soon as stryker released the voluntary recall I had received a letter in the mail I then showed it to my first surgeon and he paid no mind to it... So my question is if I file against the manufacturer can I fie against the doctor too because he had a big part in this as well

It's a horrible thing to happen but before any surgery you will have signed a form that stated the surgeon was doing a major operation and there were risks involved. A respected surgeon will have tried there best to help you. The metal hips were recalled because after years of use they deteriated with "tiny iron fillings" loose inside your body.

I would imagine any X-Ray would show the correct size of hip to use and they must come in several sizes but they are not the same as the original hip. Because it is a manufactured component, and not made through natural selection over thousands of years,  generally a larger hip ball is used to make a better mechanical joint.

Each country has different laws, so it will always depend on which country you are in; but unfortunately there is a failure rate in hip replacements and Dr's and surgeons see people in pain daily and the vast majority improve with time.

Sounds like you are still in pain now and this second Dr who has performed the revision is saying the same things again, it will take time, you need to keep doing your exercises and think to a pain free future. We wish you all the best and keep the forum informed of your improvements. Good Luck.

That is true I signed the paper that stated that from the first surgery a couple months after surgery the pain had gotten worse he then started to close the door on me the pain was a mind thing or it was my weight when I was tiny at 17 but thanks to all the steroids different pain and nerve medications I have gained a lot of weight I had seen at least 6 different orthopedic Doctors I talked to the before telling then who the surgeon was they state it was not at the right angle and that it was to big but then they asked who did the surgery and I'd tell them and they stopped seeing me... This has been so stressful but luckily I found a doctor who took me serious and did this revision even though I am in pain its too be expected

Not sure if this will help or not, but.... in America, there are currently class action suits (lots of folks together for one law suit) about the metal hip replacements,....so maybe the same think is happening in UK

i agree we all signed disclosure forms before surgery, BUT, as soon as they knew it was a problem and you went back, there should have been some help

good luck as you move forward and do let us know how you are doing

Yes I know about class action suits I am from and in America... As for the doctor he knew there was something wrong he acted real gunny at doctor appointments he would even say something then I would as the same question just worded it differently and he would switch up the answer... But I am keeping with all the test results Xray MRI and bone scan plus more info... But my is if I go through with suing the manufacture can I also sue the Dr ? There is obviously more I just could not type it all

I am from US also.  I have been fighting my Dr. for 1 1/2 years now that something is worng.

You need to talk to a lawyer that deals with the "Hip recals"  If you can not fine one by Google in your area just call one and ask them who you could talk to.  I called one and they wouldn't talk until after there was a revision.

What part of US are you from.  I am from New York state.  I know DawnDedee that writes is from Tenessee and she has had a lot of trouble and is having surgery Again.  Sometimes the Dr. just think you are looking for a problem.

Best of luck and let us know what you find out.  DO NOT GIVE UP!  Keep praying!
