Hi I had similar problems in January for approx 1 month then I developed osaphagitis, gasritis and duodenitis, it has escalated to loss of appetite, loss of taste, unable to swallow, difficulty speaking & burning pains in my stomach.I have been on PPI medication for months which hasn't helped much apart from stopping the acid reflux. .In your case you need to stop this with PPI meds asap & raise your bed or buy a bed wedge. I hope this helps and I wish you all the luck.

Excess mucous production in the throat and the cough are possible symptoms of extra-oesophageal reflux (sometimes called LPR).

Acid suppressant drugs (eg Proton Pump Inhibitors like omeprazole) are good at reducing acid so any reflux is less damaging to the oesophagus but they're not so good at stopping the reflux.

Check out the page on Extra-oesophageal rflux on the DownWithAcid org uk site.

To reduce nocturnal reflux leave at least 3 hours between last meal and bed and raise the head of the bed by 6 to 8 inches on blocks.
