Acid reflux bad?!!!

Hey everyone just wanted to talk about possibly having acid reflux. So I have had mucus in back of throat for quite awhile now and i can’t get out and it’s just stuck there. Sometimes it can cause me to choke up a bit because it would trigger a panic attack since I suffer from anxiety disorder. But also I do burp often when I’m hungry or haven’t eaten well kind of. My anxiety has gotten very bad that for now 4 months I have not eaten a full meal because of nervousness of choking. Don’t know how I got so nervous with out but anxiety I’m sure I think caused it. But with these symptoms it gets me always worried that it’s soemthing serious. Since I can’t eat/ swallow I would always think it’s cancer in esphagues or something like that but I’m actually just scared to swallow and end up not swallowing my food. The only things I can eat and have been eating are cereal oatmeal and that’s it but starting since last week I experienced food feel like coming up back to my throat and feeling full which scares me. Can somebody tell me what this is? Please help

Hi, Andy, join a very big club my friend, depending on your age? I'm 67 young at heart, sports nut, gym, squash, running etc, 3 years ago I started with coughing, Flem stuck in my throat, food? And depending on what food sticking in my throat, had camera down, nothing, so I was put on PPI'S for Gerd! A. If your on them? Get off now. B. The symptoms are the same as low acid in the stomach!!!!!  If acid is low the food sits and fermentation takes place, giving off gas, wind burning asophacus pipe and hence throat clearing, try stomach digestive enzymes, peppermint, work out what you can't eat, a trigger for the problem, one thing we as suffering from acid have in common is anxiety! I'm a 60 years veteran! But I learned only the other day on the same chat that PPI'S increase anxiety levels ten fold,! Explaining why mine has been off the scale for 3 years, stopped taking PPI'S 4,5 weeks ago, and 2weeks  ago anxiety levels have come down! Next-door neighbour just taken into hospital with kidney stones, guess what on PPI'S, I was told by 2 pharmacists quote they will kill you those PPI'S. Work out what you can eat, take enzymes, drink aloe very, Apple cider vinegar, live like a monk!!!! Funny how in my youth and growing up never heard of acid reflux, Gerd!!!!! Modern day life friend .

The condition you describe has a name, a long technical name that can be shortened to three letters LPR also known as "silent reflux". Look it up and educate yourself as to the symptoms and remedy. Also seek a professional examination preferably from a Gastroenterologist of ENT specialist. I too have an anxiety disorder (GAD) and know how you are reacting, so the best thing to do is be proactive and eliminate all the fears with a little knowledge. As to medication, I have tried PPI's and H2 blockers and neither has helped.

    Be well.
