Acid Reflux - Diet

I had anothother bad nights sleep last night even though i took my medication before i went to bed at mid night.
At about 6pm I had my last meal which was Ham off the bone new potatoes andbaked beans.I later had a cup of tea and later still some Wine Gums as a sweet treat.
So in your experience I am i correct in assuming that it was the ham that caused my problem rather than the other things I ate.
By whatI have read I think I am lucky in what problems I am having compared to many of yourselves but it seems to me that as time is going on my illness is getting worse.
I am currently taking Lanso.. and Rini... but given the advise I have received on here I am going to ween myself off of both of them.
Keep well everyone. Ted

I don't use sugar other than any in the sweets I eat.
At 5' 10" and 15 st I definitely need to lose some weight as well because I understand that doesnt help either.
Thank you for replying

It could be the sweets maybe? However, I am been told that things like liquorice allsorts and jelly babies are supposed to be ok? I am still on mainly a liquid diet and have the odd treat of a boiled sweet now and then! I am awaiting an appointment for a barium swallow so hopeing to find out what is going on after that test! I still have a lump in my throat feeling even though I am not eating anything bad at the moment and its a nightmare, not being able to socialise or anything at the moment. I have recently changed from Omeprazole to Lansoprazole medication and its not making much different at the moment, I am just trying to monitor how I feel each day to try and get to the bottom of it all! Once I am feeling better I will ween myself of the meds too!
Take care, Amanda.

I am too having a lump feeling, I notice it comes when I sit up right, which pushed the stomach upward, so I always sit in a reclining positon, making sure the spine is straight, no hunching.
You'd also want to stay away from tea and coffee, caffine can increase acidity. I can't function without caffine so I have some only when I need it.

However having said that I do realise that I could have an illness that is a lot worse so I should not be moaning really.
Still if I do at least cut down on the sweets my cycling and running will hopefully be made a lot easier. Regards Ted

The news on the jelly babies and Allsorts is welcomed but as I have just said to Samuelson given his advice as well I will definitely be cutting down on the sweets and tea.
Someone sent to me a private message with some good advice in it if you want me to I will send you a PM with it in later today as I am about to go out.
Keep well
Ted
