No, I haven't had but I am having a blood test today organised by my GP practice without me asking for it so I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask for one. I haven't been on Mirtazapine for more than 2 months but now I am on Venaflaxine as well.Maggie

If you've got a sore throat you should consult your doctor. I've never heard of it being caused by a reaction to mirtazapine, although I do get a dry mouth and feel thirsty. If your throat is sore, the doc will be able to see it, and treat it accordingly - although he/she might say it's a virus and antibiotics won't touch it.

Just worried as in the pill leaflet it says to tell your doc. I told him but he is not bothered  but is doing a blood. Count tomorrow  thanks

It does not sound like a mirtazapine problem - as you have been taking that for 6 months.

You should trust your doctor.  He/she has probably seen thousands of sore throats - so will know what to do.

      Hi Jill,

      Please try not to worry.

I woke up with a very sore throat this morning, even hurts to drink water which I know I need to do to escape dehydration.

It is now 9 weeks since my last mirt so it is obviously not a side effect.

It is good that you are having a blood test tomorrow so you obviously have a

      good doctor.

Please come back and let us know how you are Jill.

      Best wishes,

      Sunbird x

It is really horrible to have such anxiety jill and it can cause many physical symptoms.

As your doctor has ordered a gastroscope and your blood test tomorrow it seems he is trying to help.

      Are you in UK?

      xx

Sorry to hear about your worry about hols.   I was in same position 2 months ago.   Try to put off worrying until you see the doctor about  the blood test results.  Then you will be in a better position to know what to do about the holiday.

If the blood test is all clear (as I hope) you can go on your holiday - and your sore throat may clear up (if it has not already)!

NHS GPs have very little time with each patient, so they have to be fast.  This can be mistaken for "not caring".

One of the effects of mirtazapine sometimes is to cause a reduction in your white blood cell count and this can result in you picking up more infections. It can be quite dangerous in some cases. So the blood test will let your doctor see if it may be the cause in your case. If not, then I suspect you just have picked up a virus.

Hi,Jill, try gargling with salt water,it's better than Asprin. Do it 3-4times a day it kills any nasties in there.  My hubby,Son and now Grandson used to suffer serverely with Ulcerated throats and it was the only thing to relieve them.

But I don't think it's the Mirtazapine ,you've been on it to long for that type of reaction.
