Ive been prescribed Doxycycline for acne type breakouts. It states to avoid direct sun, but this may be difficult as I go on holiday in 2 weeks. Has anyone been on this medication and found problems if exposed to sunlight?

Hi Judith, how long are you away for & who prescribed the Doxycycline?

I think if it was me, [and I don't know your circumstances] I would postpone starting the Doxyxycline, until I came home. Whenever I have taken it, prescribed by a Dermatologist, the course has been a long one, so waiting until after a 2 week holiday [guessing here!] won't hurt.

Talk to your prescriber, if it is a Derm, ring his secretary & ask the question, or ask a pharmacist.

Otherwise, you need to cover yourself up, hats & sleeves!

    Enjoy your holiday!

Your skin is very sensitive using many products for acne--- It's up to you to postpone the use of Doxy BUT I would defiantly wear sunscreen. Even wear a hat out in the sun.
