After 3 terrifying years of ssri prescriptions i finally discovered benzodiazepines.First clonazepam, which i took for about a year, however, clonazepam is not only an anti-anxiety medication it is also an

anti-convulsive medication. Therefore I sought to find a medication which would be more suitable for me and that is xanax.I have been taking xanax(by prescription)for about 7 years now and i don't even want to think of what a mess my life could have been without this medication, therefore, contrary to numerous opinions,I refer to my medication as a necessary addiction. Honestly, if a medication was

developed which works as well, without the addictive nature everyone

is squabbling about,I would certainly try it. Keep in mind that the

ever present Dr.'s magic remedy, ssri's and tricyclics, are very addictive as well with really, really nasty withdrawal symptoms.I

speak from experience.

I found xanax about 3 years ago, after going nuts with all the other crap.  Now my doctor says she wants me off of it.  FDA bulls**t.  I hope they don't do that to you.  Finding something that works, then having it ripped away is awful.

In the UK it is extremely difficult to even get a prescription for benzos as they are so addictive.

You're absolutely right. I have been on mirtazapine for a while and last week I forgot to renew my prescrition so I was without them for three days.

What a nightmare! Whoever says that these drugs are not addictive is lying.

I accept that benzos are also addictive. I wish there was a medication which helped without making us dependent on it.
