Alcon SAGAT lens?

The Alcon SAGAT lens has been recommended for me. Does anyone have an knowledge about this lens? I have been unable to locate any information on this lens either independently or from the cataract surgeon.

Many thanks!

I could not find a thing on a google search. Alcon typically name their lens model with letters and numbers like this:

    AcrySof IQ Aspheric - SN60WF

    Clareon - SY60WF

    .

However, when you get into torics and other preloaded packaging such as the Autonome injector for the Clareon there is a whole range of other model numbers.

    .

Clareon Aspheric Hydrophobic Acrylic Intraocular Lens (IOL) (Model SY60WF)

    Clareon Toric Aspheric Hydrophobic Acrylic IOL (Models CNW0T3, CNW0T4, CNW0T5, CNW0T6, CNW0T7, CNW0T8 and CNW0T9)

Clareon Aspheric Hydrophobic Acrylic IOL with the AutonoMe Pre-loaded Delivery System (Model CNA0T0)

Clareon Toric Aspheric Hydrophobic Acrylic IOL with the AutonoMe Pre-loaded Delivery System (Models CNA0T3, CNA0T4, CNA0T5, CNA0T6, CNA0T7, CNA0T8 and CNA0T9)

Are you sure they didn't mean SA60AT? That is a single-piece acrylic lens with UV absorption, but without the blue light-filtering chromophore (so it is clear, not yellow in color). It is not aspheric, like the SA60WF and the newer Clareon AcrySof lenses. Therefore, its shape does not help to reduce higher-order aberrations. This lens was in wide use in the US, before the other 2 were available.

Yes, the SA60AT is a very old lens and I suspect not used much any longer. Even in Canada most jurisdictions cover the aspheric version of the lens. The SA60WF is what I got in my first eye 2.5 years ago. I got the Clareon in the second eye. I would recommend the Clareon over either of the other two. I am just not sure how available the Clareon toric is.

Thanks RonAKA, when I followed up regarding the name, I was told that there are additional number or letters that are added depending on the measurements of my eye. Have you heard of that practice?

Thanks too for addressing the multiple numbers used for the Clareon monofocal. I believe one article I read noted that the number used was for research purposes only. Again have you heard of that practice? In this case, would you advise just searching for the name (and not the number) along with monofocal since Calareon seems to manufacture more than monofocals?
