Almost 11 weeks post-op

Ok!! Just passed my 10 weeks post-op from my RTHR and have been back to work 2 weeks now...my new hip is wonderful!! I love it!! No pain!! No limp...sorta!!
My old hip hurts like crazy...I'm at a job where I'm on my feet all day!! And 1/2 way through my shift...I'm wanting to pull my hair out cause my old hip hurts!! At first my old hip and both my feet were sore...and I'm like, ok...have to get my poor feet in shape for standing all day again...by the end of the second week...my old (left) hip and right foot still kill me...
I'm thinking...my left hip is killing me and I'm putting all my weight on the new hip now...which is why my right foot is still killing me and can't get used to the standing??
I'm worried that with me putting all my weight on the new hip it will mess it up...?

Is your left hip in good condition might be worth checking it out. I asked my surgeon about mine. Thankfully he said it was ok I had osteo arthritis in my right hip.
Wishing you all the best with your ongoing recovery

Wow, back at work at 8 weeks post-op - phased return or full time?
I don't think you'd damage your new hip but mst certainly delay healing - everything is still so fragile - tissue, tendons, muscles etc. are still in the healing process -
I agree with Sue to have your left hip checked for OA - Mine was discovered bone-on-bone at 6 weeks follow-up visit from 1st THR (on right) - cartillage went from good to really bad in 6 months time -
Take good care of yourself okay - it is still early in recovery -
big warm hug

One of the things my PT counselled is to change shoes after surgery - old ones have worn down to accomodate pain and gait changes. Could this be an issue for you?
The operation forces so many changes in our body alignment, posture and gait that a change in footwear made sense to me and helped a lot. And there are many more nice styles now (esp from Scandanavia) that provide excellent support.
With a job it so much standing ... worth an investment.
I think you are right to worry about the impact on your other hip - I already knew I needed a THR on my second hip and I could feel the impact that the first had on it. And, this seemed worse as the first improved and I assumed full weight-bearing .
I asked my PT and sheencouraged me to include my second leg in my exercises to strengthen it for my next surgery ...
Good luck.
