Almost back to normal

I just had to share this fantastic day.  I am now 5 months post op and today i actually went kayaking, it was wonderful, never thought at 68 i would be enthused about having a wet bottom and soggy jumper.  My hip and leg were really good, i know the other wants doing but it felt so good to be halfway back to normal.  When i first posted at 6 weeks i never thought this day would come, i thought my active life was over and i have been so grateful to this forum for keeping my spirits up and making me realise how much worse some people have been.  So to anyone starting out on their journey after the op keep exercising and be positive, it really does come right in the end.

    Hi Jennifer,

i am so glad you posted this!!!  I am 63 and just 4weeks 4days post-op and I feel like I will never get to five months!!!!  That is when I hope to be visiting in America!!!  That consists of 17+ hours on an airplane so it'll be quite a feat for me.  But I look so forward to it.

right now I try to take a day at a time, but some days just don't go by fast enough!  Plus I have nights that I don't sleep very well and that doesn't help the next day (which this is one of those night/day combos today).

Im not sure if I'll go kayaking but I might when we get back from the states.  They have that over here in Qatar and my husband and I have talked about doing it.

Well, I have to say it again....thank you!  I needed to read this.

Hi regi, glad you feel inspired by my story.  Hope you recover just as well. Don't forget to ask for assistance when you fly, gets you on the plane first, through customs and immigration speedily and cuts out all the walking to gates etc and it's free!  I plan to do that later in the year when i visit my daughter in the UK and that's 26 hrs flight.  I learned all about assistance when i was beinging my  mum out to NZ during her 80s, four times she came before she stayed with me.  No point being too proud to sit in a wheelchair and struggling with carrying bags and walking miles when it is there for the asking.  HAve a good time.

That's wonderful Jenni biggrin what an inspiration you are. I'm 4 weeks post op and see people doing walks across beauitiful countryside on the TV and wonder if I'll ever be well enough to do that again. Thank you x

Absolutely fantastic! Congratulations. I'm just a couple of weeks behind you and can feel I'm up for almost anything now, so hearing this feels like confirmation. Continue to enjoy!
