Am I boring you?

Hi all,

I had a Pain Clinic appt on Monday my fourth one, I'm seeing Physio and Psycho once a month.

Well Physio lady is great, saw her first then she takes my file round to the Psycho lady whilst I wait to be seen. The door was ajar and I saw the Psycho lady take a large foil wrapped something from her bag, the door closed and I waited for her to call me. Ten minutes later she came walking up the corridor chewing and called me in, I hadn't seen her pass me so she must of left her office via another door to eat whatever was in the foil. I go in, sit down and she begins by telling me off for leaving it so long between appts. It was at her suggestion that I try and book my appts to see her and Physio on the same day/time to save time and  money in travelling.

She asks a few questions and then proceeds in putting her hand into a clear ziplock bag full of cut up fruit, taking some and eating it. Not only was this distracting for me but as I was speaking, I'd glance over at her hand (due to the rustling) whereupon she would hold her hand perfectly still inside of the bag. OMG, I was getting more and more annoyed. Finally I was explaining my experience and actions about something and she looked at me with distain, to which I became annoyed, she saw this and commented, " I'm sorry I think I made you angry, didn't I?" I replied yes, she then said " I think its because I misunderstood you, sorry".

during our chat her eyes were averted downwards toward the floor, I thought she was looking at my shoes but I then realised she looked as though she was drifting off to sleep.

I now feel like cancelling my next appt with her. And I had felt right from the beginning that this was a waste of time. Having had counselling in the past which was extended due to complexities of depression and anxieties, I feel that the 5 sessions, (only 2 left) with her will have very little impact on me and haven't had so far.

Excuse the moaning all, lol.

    Hi Angel

Was this joke of an appointment at a hospital. If so get in contact with PALS and ask to be referred to a different person. You don't have to say why if you are not happy with explaining what happened. You must feel any professional is interested in helping you not more interested in filling their face or recuperating after a heavy night by nodding off. Disgraceful behaviour by someone who should have been far more professional.

Fibro is hard enough as it is without feeling the professionals are not taking us or their work seriously. There are good and bad in walks of life and just because this experience has not been pleasant try to keep an open mind. There are plenty of good therapists out there.

Regardless of the obvious un-professional actions of this lady, if for any reason you aren't comfortable with a given counsellor, you have the right to request another one.  Feeling stressed by her behaviour is going to do more harm than good.  So sorry to hear you have had to contend with this, I hope you find a better and more suitable option very soon. xx

How rude. you should request a referal to see someone else, this was not proffessional behaviour.  If she always acts like this she should be struck off.

She hasn't always been like this, this was probably my worst day with her  but on a previous ocassion she had been very fidgety, pulling at the hair behind her ear.

Maybe she's problems of her own.

      Thanks for your support tracey

If i was you i would report her and ask to see someone else they shouldn t act like that with patients

I do think reporting may be a bit harsh... surely a drop in her number of clients will be enough of a message to her and the people who pay her.

Thank you for your support Hotpick, it is always appreciated.

    Hi Angel

No, you are not boring us.....

How un-professional of the Physco.  I would report her actions to PALS if this was not a private consultation. If private I would still get it reported, after all we all have rights in the way we are all treated and respected within our communities.

I would ask to be referred to another specialist and refuse to be seen by her. When one does follow protocol in procedures, then to be told it's your fault, that is not acceptable to anyone.

Do stay calm and positive as you can whilst you wait for your next appointment.

We are all here for you on this forum.  Take care Angel wink x

      Bless you Bee,

I am going to request someone else, not sure about reporting her though, seems somewhat spiteful and I dont do spiteful.

It just felt good to get that stuff of my chest ultimately.

Plus I am a firm believer in karma.

Thank you for your support Bee

Extremely bad manners from a so called professional! Maybe they think they'll find out more about one by treating a patient like that. Also, turning up late or not at all and expecting one to make another appointment! This happened to a friend of mine. He complained and asked to see someone else the same day as he'd taken time off work to keep the appointment! You are definitely NOT boring Angel51. This sort of treatment from any Doctor should be reported, they get paid large salaries to help us to recover after all.

      Hi Ellie

I wasn't late, she was complaining that there had been too large a gap from one appt to the next but as I explained I went with the appt I was given. But you're right ...extremely bad manners.

Thank you for your support, it means so much

I meant that in my friends case, the doctor did not turn and he was told the appt was cancelled. This was inexcusable! No phone call from them to cancel or change the day. He'd taken time off work to attend so insisted on an appt the same day with another doc. He got one after a bit of arguing. mad

Oh Ellie I see now.......that is inexcusable. Good for him that he insisted on being seen by another doctor.
