And the doctor said.......

Hello all,
Hope this post finds you all very well and the long bank holiday weekend is giving you a much needed break from work and the stresses that we dont need during this already painful time.
So i went to the docs Thursday to basically tell him that the 20mg dosage i have been taking for 20 weeks is doing not a thing to me anymore and i have platteaued completely. His response, he doubled the dosage. So since Friday I have been taking 40mg in the morning and after 3 days i feel different......calmer is the best way to describe it.
I think I started to take it at the best time i.e. over a long weekend away from work. That plus myself and the missus going away for a relaxing 3 days to a spa up in the Chilterns. I have not been this relaxed and chilled in over a year - its bliss. For those on 20mg Flu who feel it isnt working any more, i would suggest you speak to your doc and choose to up the dosage or get a new prescription. I was petrified before starting them but SO FAR im having none of the side effects I got when i started taking flu back in November.
I hope this feeling lasts, if not you guys will hear about it (sorry!)
Take care every one and please KEEP ON POSTING, it gets me thru the day and helps me remember im not alone. All the best.

Its good to know that the different dose is making a difference for you. I too have just gone up to 40mgs but as yet have not felt much effect apart from feeling a little more numb?? No real side effects fingers crossed! Only day 4 so onwards and upwards.
Glad to know things are improving for you....let us know how you get on x

Hope you are all good, shame its Monday evening - back to the grind tomorrow hey
Rach,
40mg isnt all that bad thus far....been taking them for 4 days now and id say they have helped but its early days yet, ill keep posting and let you know if anything changes ok. Dont be apprehensive about taking more, im prefering them.
Jupp,
I agree that i feel slightly more numb but for me thats a good thing as I so nearly flew off the handle so many times when i was on 20mgs....the extra 20mg is grounding me more and making my brain work at a more reasonable pace.
I just really hope I have no side effects such as those when i started Flu, they were the worst.
Have a great evening and week guys, speak soon.

I trust you all had a reasonable long weekend.
40mg will take a little while to get into the system. Have been on this dosage for 6 or so weeks (i've lost count now!). I found the first 4 weeks i was numb and emotionless which was far better than the extreme highs and lows of 20mg. After that i levelled out mood wise.
I've not touched the booze for many a week. Tried it when i first went up to 40mg which was a bad idea. Will try again soon but not to excess.
Something i've found is that i get extremely angry at the slightest problem/awkward person. This is from the most laid back person you could meet before depression. Don't know if it's the flu or the illness that is causing this.
Have had 4 good nights sleep apart from the weird dreams. Long may it continue.
Best wishes to one and all.

glad you seem to be getting things sorted. Me too! The spa is an excellent idea. We all need something of somewhere to give us \"permission\" to relax and look after ourselves.
I used to use Glastonbury for my chill out. There was something about the atmosphere and sitting in the challice well gardens that used to make all my concerns disappear (that and the spa bath you could hire in the B&B).
Feeling a bit edgy today as I have my 1st appt at the docs since going on flu on Friday and I am (illogically) terrified she will decide I don't actually need them and take them off prescription!
I guess it is all part of feeling a fraud - I wasn't THAT BAD. Just needed a little chemical support.
