And the Doctor says.....

Hi Ladies, since my last post I have been to see my Dr & this is her   conclusion...being a year since a period all my menopause symptoms are peaking, does this mean it all gets worse before getting better? the seemingly endless mental moods & tears, stuffy head, sinus like congestion, funny bits n pieces"down there" etc just an overall weird not right feeling also can these peaking hormone levels cause spikes in BP...yep, mine is up which explains why I feel hot woozy & just really out of sorts..AND NOW, my stomach has been feeling sickly & tight like my body is finding it hard to relax, I've been shivery cold but hot n clammy OMG! 😩 I'm a wreck. My Dr gave me a script for Livial but I'm not keen on anything HRT, as I told her because of family history also I'm seeing a specialist early Oct. Have any ladies heard of menopause symptoms reaching a peak before everything finally settles? will I ever really be free of  this sh** ? Just want to be able to be the 'get up n out n do' person like I used to be & not have very day governed by how I feel, I'm only staying between my home & local area because of feeling so crappy & weird(scary) My Dr says it all passes & that no woman has been left permanently in a menopause state. Everything I read says, the last period, menopause happens at age 51, but can range from anywhere 40 to 60 maybe she thinks me being 55 I should be through & done & back to normal HUH!! 😒 am I normal & or late? oh my once joyous carefree life where are you? have you been sucked into some bottomless abyss for good?

Keep Well Ladies xo

Hi Caz how are you? I did read your post, sorry I didn't reply. I asked my Dr about a blood test to determine hormones/menopause but she didn't think it was necessary, she's only going by my symptoms. Maybe the specialists I will be seeing might get blood tests done...in the past they've always come back normal but I'm starting to think I must have something else wrong...probably anxiety/worry & the not knowing when all of this will end. Like you I haven't had any 'official diagnosis' of menopause, am just in n out of symptoms daily, weekly etc 😢 sigh!

      Keep Well xo

My doctor don't believe in the blood tests so never had any done as he said it fluctuates so much it's impossible to be accurate. Xxx

I have also seen every specialist doctor you can think of due to my symptoms even invasive procedures but nothing so I reckon that was when my menopause was at it highest terrible time basically

Bobbins, although you told your dr of your family history, notice that your dr prescribed Livial anyway as sounds like she did not consider it relevant.  THIS is your miracle cure that you are ignoring.

Having said that, I would not use Livial as it is not oestrodiol.  There is a half strength oestrodiol gel (it might be called Oestrogel in your country - in mine the brand name is Sandrina).  Maybe you could try it on a casual basis when you have gone past your limits.  E.g. rub it on your abdomen, hips, thighs in the evening if worse at night, or vice versa.  If there is no relief, use the full strength one.

Or get the full strength one and apply half at a time to see how you go.  Seal the foil satchet with a glide-on clip.

Someone on this menopause forum recently stated she has been in this state so far for 12 years.  It does hang around for a long time for some women - maybe not till 90 because a woman still in that state would probably die from ill health long before then.

The book name I sent to you also discusses herbs, chinese herbs, foods, acupuncture.  Maybe you will find something in there that will help.  However, I think these alternate measures only help those whose symptoms are less severe.  And yours do not sound light.

Honestly, friends who went through menopause without any assistance, never complained much of anything.  One had some anxiety which caused a blocked feeling in her throat, so it was decided it was GERD.  I meet with 2 contemporaries each week, and nothing - they just shake their heads.  They are so annoying!!! smile  However, their skin is more wrinklier than mine, their hair is coarser, facial hair, one said her dr told her she has atrophied vagina, etc. etc.

hi all , i sympathise, im 50 and experiencing terrible face flushes, thi s is the first month ive not had a period, i ache in my lower back and left thigh and hip, its truly awful, i used to chuckle at others going thru menopause or peri menopause thinking thats not gonna happen to me, and here we are. my dear sister now deceased suffered for 15 years, i honestly didnt ever think it would be so difficult, best to keep busy and use distractions to divert your self as well as being kind to yourself ie. walks and exercise and fun things to do..
