another crappy day on fluoxetine

Posted , 10 users are following.

beginning to wonder if indeed fluoxetine is for me, or not. the bad days are still outweighing the good days by something like 4 to 1, not good odds. and  im on day37 or 38 of 40mgs, plus 8 wks of 20 mgs. today rubbish again with pounding head this time, nervous twitchy agitated type of day which in turn makes me further agitated. patience is a virtue they say, do they sell it in tescos or what. so apart from grumpy old me i hope everybody else is coping with life a wee bit better.

Oh dear David? I had an agitated day/evening on Tuesday! What I am finding more than anything is that I am not productive! I do as little as I can get away with! I am lucky enough not to work, I am just so lethargic, very little interest other than social media etc! The heads have eased for me this wee I am delighted to say, but I have had a month of severe head aches. I'm 12wks in on 20mg, I won't up them for sure!

hey me too, as in not productive, i struggle to be bothered getting dressed and only do so because its cold! lethargic could be my middle name recently as well. strange because now and then maybe once a week im having a good productive day otherwise im sitting with my laptop until the early hours, perhaps i was an owl in a previous life. my headache has eased as the day ends thankfully. oh dear what a life (or not)

That's me, sitting here with my iPad messing around instead of doing my TAX RETURN! Who cares? Lol what the heck is that all about! I have never been like that? Especially if it involves a £100 fine?? Grrrr

hahaha this is deja vu or however you spell it! its as though something has taken over my brain and given me a could'nt care less attitude, and worse still it is enforcing it against my will because I know I have stuff to do, but literally can't be ar*ed, pardon the french smile

Absolute ditto. I am perfectly fine, I'm not down at all, but I just can't be bothered doing the jobs I need to do, just as you, could not care less! Sit on the iPad until 2am3am whatever! It's mad! Lol

Same here!  Am addicted to my iPad ... in fact it's now attached to my arm :-)  I have found though that if I'm working on my iPad or laptop a lot during the day (I do websites and update them for people) it will affect my head a lot, making me agitated, heady, nauseous and can't sleep (apparently the light emitted plays havoc with your 'off switch' and thinks its daytime.

So it might be too much IT is the culprit.  Also if I go to bed as normal people do instead of staying up til all hours, it really does help too.

Says I, still on my iPad at nearly midnight ;-)

    Hi david

Thats just pants -bless you! I was hoping to follow in your footsteps feeling the improvement you felt at first on 40mg. I've done a week of 20/40 n so far so good but insomniaa returned awake from 4am today :-(

I was wondering how long you give meds but having changed once already n had side effects all over again im running with the increased dose for now. I keep meaning to read that report danilo mentioned in a previous post about effectiveness of ssri's, did you look at it at all?

Im assuming weather up there is pretty severe too which is no help to mood esp if you cant get out for that vital fresh air n exercise.

Its probably a good job I dont have an ipad, my phone is distracting enough -id never do anything!!! Haha

Hope your headaches keep away. Keep doing the 4-7-8 breathing thing to ease you agitation. I really hope that this all settles for you soon, changing meds would likely be even less fun so hope you dont have to go down that route.

    Take care flower

      hey hello Vix,

thankyou for your kind words, it's quite a battle at times this fluoxetine journey is'nt it? Still got niggley headache today and the spaced out feeling is more extreme this afternoon for whatever reason. Went for a wander along the shore this morning so I had a couple of hours in the fresh air, freezing wind and rain but I enjoyed it. ummm not sure what the 4-7-8 breathing is? in through the nose out through the mouth? and continue to do so otherwise you will die cheesygrin haha

      Hey baldy :-)

How you doing with your smart new hair cut? The 4-7-8 breathing is apparently proven to calm you n aid getting to sleep, something scientific about expelling more carbon dioxide n your body absorbing more oxygen I think! Look it up on the web.

Basically breathe in deeply for 4, hold for 7 then breathe out for 8. Simple but I find it quite effective esp in helping me get to sleep.

But either way yes please do continue to do the breathe in breathe out thing generall!!! :-)

      Ttfn

I'm a very impatient person. i found that doing stuff even when i dont ant to helps. have u downoaded headspace app.what i'finding is i am irritable when i dont eat also so eating snacks every 2 hours. it seems tht the fluox is helping now on 60mg so maybe a change in dose to 60 may help? hope it all works out. ive written some affirmations down too, get up do more, do it anyway even if u dont want to and u can do anything u want to do. helping me slowly but surely.

thanks for your advice, I took it and went off for a walk on the shore for couple hours, feeling quite satisfied afterwards. yeah am debating asking my doctor if 60mg is for me or not, 40mg leaves me almost comatose at times so god knows what 60 will do!! cheesygrin

    David

Im only on day 14 or so, the ONLY side effects have been slight "high" spaced feeling, little white noise and slight loss of appetite.

Please go back to the doctors asap mate....your effects would have worn me down after a few days - you have done brilliantly to stick with this for so long, i cant possibly imagine this is how you can be expected to cope from here on in.

I wish you all the best on your journey...please keep us informed whatever you do..

hello Richo, yes that spaced out feeling has been with me most of the time, some days more so than others, and it's a pain in the butt after a while, initially I thought it was almost laughable feeling stoned every day but the novelty has long worn off. I shall see how the weekend goes as to whether I go back to the doctors, 40mg is leaving me almost comatose at times so god knows what 60mg would do!! Thankyou for your kind words, and good luck with your own Fluoxetine journey... cheesygrin

thankyou Pippa, today has been a wee bit better, I made myself go for a wander on the beach for an hour or two which helped. cheesygrin

That's good to hear. "A wee bit" hehe very Scottish. A wander along the beach sounds lovely, probably a little cold where you are though. smile

yes very cold wind blowing of the North Sea so my face was extremely red and glowing when I got home! Whenever I think of Australia I feel a tinge of sadness because apparently my mum and late father were all set to emigrate there in the early 50's and somehow my grandmother got involved and persauded my dad not to go sad caused a family rift that never healed, so I would have been born in Australia had history taken a different course, I sometimes daydream as to what may have been rolleyes I do love Scotland but oh what I'd give for a warmer climate cheesygrin

I'm sorry to hear that David, that's a sad story. I hope my reminding you of Australia doesn't cause you sadness, I'm here to support you not upset you. Australia is lovely but Scottland is beautiful also. I do have to agree that we have good weather though, although it would be cool to experience snow in winter rather than endless rain.

no it does'nt cause sadness Pippa, I was just reminiscing as to what might have been, I think as you get older and have too much time on your hands, that the mind wanders now n then, I was very guilty of my mind living entirely in the past for a wee while but I've snapped out of that one and actually planning a future of sorts now, so all's not doom n gloom! Besides which Australia has so many venemous snakes n spiders that it makes me shudder thinking of them haha, and yet apparently New Zealand has none? Thanks for your reply, hope that things are going well with you and fluoxetine smile

haha yes very true, spiders and snakes galore down here! :P Things are up and down, I'm going to post an update at the end of week 3 (tuesday) smile
