Hi Caroline. I am a week post op for small anterior and larger posterior repair. When I came home, I felt I was weeing from higher? If that makes sense. But now it seems to have changed sad also having awful trouble with stitch pain sitting? Am now taking antibiotics for a suspected infection. I'm hoping against hope things will all right themselves over the healing time. I had a small clot come out last week. Hope you're ok x

An infection left untreated can breakdown the sutures which in turn prevents healing which is why it's important to get treatment asap.

Hi Dooley, thanks not too bad followed Matrons advice back in hospital on antibiotics 😬 So sorry to hear your suffering hang in there it gets easier I get the peeing issue sure it's probably due to swelling make sure you rest rest and more rest take care and let me know how you get on x

Morning Caroline and Matron. Oh Caroline, I hope you're soon home again and feeling better. Thank you both so much for your kind words. I am back to resting and just walking around the house and garden for a few days. I can also feel something similar to the pre op prolapse again? But hoping against hope it will settle down. Sending healing hugs x

What you can feel is swelling from the surgery Doolou which is normal but remember to rest after your little walks and try and elevate your legs x

Morning Matron. Yes, it seems to have 'changed' again! Thank you once again for your knowledge and empathy. Definitely slowed down a bit, more resting, and antibiotics are working. Hope you are improving Caroline, and feeling a little better x

Hi Caroline66313, Thought I'd drop you a line because it sounds like we're at a very similar stage after similar operations. I had anterior and posterior repair on April 3rd (without mesh). I'm actually not in as much discomfort as I thought I'd be. I have a pulling sensation and some discomfort when I walk but I'm off pain-killers. It still feels a bit "bulgy" down there, but the doctor says that it's most likely the suture line I'm noticing. My main issue has been a lazy bladder. I'm having to self-catheter twice a day. It's very slowly improving, so I feel confident that I'll get back to normal pee-ing in the end. Other than that, I'm feeling really well. I'm going back to work tomorrow knowing that I have to take it easy. It's so hard to do no lifting - I hadn't realised how often each day I lift something over 2kg. Anyway, hope you're doing well and that you're over your phlebitis.

Hi nice to hear from you, my god going back to work so soon (hope your going to be sitting down lots) I've been signed off for 6 weeks must be really lucky my consultant said ideally should be off for 3 months, my employer is great and very understanding I'm really lucky. Feel like I'm healing well it's so hard not lifting anything when you think you can, bizarrely I have days with no pain and days with aching buttocks and abdomen guess it's all the healing process. So sorry to hear your self catheterising, I escaped that hope your managing ok did you have to give yourself anticoagulant injections? Was surprised that I had to do this it wasn't explained before my op!!!! Phlebitis was me being over cautious didn't want to go back into hospital for a third time. Good luck with your return to work make sure you rest as much as possible keep me posted how your improving take care x

Hi - it's so interesting to hear what your consultant recommended re. time off work. Mine said I'd be able to go back after 2 weeks (although she did sign me off for 3). My surgery was done in Bangkok (although I live in Vietnam) so that's why there's a difference, I imagine. I do have the 6-week "do nothing" recommendation and she said I'd be back to normal life after 3 months. All my pain is very localized - and it's more discomfort rather than pain. I am worried that I'm doing too much. I question everything I do - like taking plates away from the table or opening the sliding door to the terrace. I also worry every time I sneeze or cough. It would be disastrous for it to fail. Are you managing to do absolutely nothing? Are you doing any exercises at all? Did the consultant recommend anything? I didn't have anticoagulant injections. Maybe because I didn't have mesh? Was your surgery transabominal or transvaginal? Mine was the latter. Anyway - hope your recovery goes well! Keep me posted!

      Hi Scortes

Good to hear from you so far away👍😻I'm in the uk on the Norfolk coast. My surgery was the same vaginal had anterior, posterior and perineum repair luckily escaped hysterectomy as my uterus hasn't collapsed I was reliably informed. My consultant was great though I won't see him again at my hospital my post op check up due 3 months after op with a specialist nurse. I'm in the same boat probably lifting too much and bending too it's so difficult not to!!!!! But don't want to end up back in hospital and undo all the good work. Take care seat in touch 😻X

Hi caroline66313. How are you doing? I also escaped hysterectomy as that was in the right place, thank goodness! I've been back at work for a few days, but have full support of my employer and have, until now, only done half days. I feel absolutely fine in myself (apart from the on-going bladder issues), but am very unsure of all the sensations "down below". It feels bulgy still and sometimes there are mild stabbing pains as well as pulling sensation still. Just a quick question - have you been told to do pelvic floor exercises? If so - how many and how often? Anyway - hope you're doing well! Keep in touch. There aren't many people over here who know what I'm going thru! x

      Hi scortes

Hi, I know what you mean about bulgy 😬me too sensation wise everything has settled down so far, don't know if what your experiencing is you nerve endings settling down after what they've been through? I am finding bending an issue get abdominal pain so glad I've still got 3 weeks before I'm due back at work 😊. The physio came to see me before discharge and told me to start pelvic floor straight away with initially just tighten and release 5 times with no hold was doing this three times a day increasing to tighten hold for count of 5 and release for 5 repeat 10 times same three times a day don't know if this is routine might be worth googling it? Take it easy all the best x😻
