Hi Lesley,  I didn't have the same as you I had vault suspension and large rectal prolapse repair.  I am 10 weeks post op and I also am having back pains so may be its a result of prolapse repair, hope you improve soon, Us Poor ladies have to put up with a lot don't we!

Hi Lesley. I'm nearly nine weeks post op with my second rectocele repair and I feel exactly the same as you!

The first time I had this repair, the lower back ache lingered for about three and a half months. I spend half my nights cuddled up to a hot water bottle just to ease things.

Last time I didn't feel completely well until I was six months post op. I have good days and bad days and some days where I feel like I'm making no progress at all - but it does pass. Try to rest whenever you can and get through one day at a time. X

Thanks cupcake I feel the info thsy give you is very misleading as they are saying after 3 months you should feel great, but I still have lots of aches and can only stay on my feet for an hour without pain starting all over again, hope you are getting stronger now X

A lot of ladies suffer like this and its usually because of the position you are in during surgery.....legs up in stirrups. You get shoved about a bit during these procedures and often the nerves coming off the spinal cord get irritated. This may take a while to get over but painkillers are the fist option.    You can also try a few gentle exercises which I find help. Lay flat on the floor and slowly bend your knees and then pull both legs up to your chest..hold for 5 secs then lower. Do this 10 times.  Gently rock your hips while laying on the floor. Rock 5 times slowly. If you experience severe pain at any time then stop immediately. Try to do this once  a day at first, then twice a day. Always do these exercises SLOWLY...you are not in a race or training for anything.

    Hi Lesley

I am ten weeks post op after hysterectomy including cervix plus anterior and posterior repair and perineum rebuild. (Which i wasn't aware was going to be done but apparently deemed (necessary).

All was going swimmingly until a week ago when i had

horrendous back lain after bending over . Both GP and gyno have said it is back related not gyno.

I now have constant burning and a degree of pain . As well the sutures they use for this repair i have been told can take 3

months to dissolve and they are sticking into me causing

irritation. Ive already had two trios to gyno to get them removed already.

I was put on antibiotics for a while as a precaution

and antifungal meds to combat thrush which im sure i have a

low level of further adding to my misery.

I feel utterly miserable atm and wished I never had the repair

work done. Everything feels swollen, different and

    uncomfortable.

Im seeing a new gyno for management in about a week and a

half and to remove new irritating stitches. As well as some

lumpy areas that maybe proud flesh. Currently trialling an

antidepressant for pain management not to mention i feel

pretty low because it has been going on for a week and feels

like its never going stop. My vaginal repairs were considered a minor grade, I hate to think what large repairs entail.

sorry my post hasn't been full of wisdom and encouragement,

Im so stressed about it all atm.

I have read on other threads it can take up to a year for things to really settle for some people I hope the new gyno has some

    answers.
