    Hi Welshgirl

I had a discussion with my Anethetist prior to surgery to discuss what pain relief I was happy with following surgery. I told him I was not happy to take Tramadol or Morphine, if I could avoid it, as well as Codeine as it can make you constipated. He suggested a Caudal pain-block which numbed the area for approx 12 hours so when I came round I had no pain at all. After that I coped well with just Paracetamol and Ibuprofen.

    Hi Welsh girl,

I was given dhyhidrcoedin (please excuse spelling) , it made me feel a bit sick. But stuck it out for a few days then switched to paracetamol. I found the paracetamol was actually alright only really felt sond pain when due next dose. Like yourself don't do painkillers and only very rarely take paracetamol. Still under effects if anesthetic for day or two and the dhyhidrocodien takes day or two to leave system.

    Phylxx

I mentioned in another post that I'd been given tramadol immediately after my op on Monday 11th. I didn't feel ill with it and it definitely numbed the pain but I was very spaced out and my pupils were doing odd things which my kids were freaked out by when they visited Monday evening. I didn't like the weird feeling so the nurse then gave me an anti inflammatory in the form of a a suppository which worked brilliantly. It is called diclofenac. No strange effects.

I was sent home yesterday with paracetamol and codeine. Managing so far on just the paracetamol as don't want to take codeine unless I'm desperate cos it causes constipation.

Weak, heavy around the tummy area, achy but not really in pain. Cried a bit yesterday when the physio came for a chat - don't know why. Weeing normally today (yesterday was a slow trickle but today it's s stronger stream) had a BM this morning after lots of griping pain from trapped wind. Very tired - moved from bed to sofa to bed again. Slept 3 times through out day. Got the family waiting on me.

    Hi

Can you stand ibuprofen as it is an anti inflammatory as well as I pain killer. I did manage on only paracetamol every 6 hrs with the ibuprofen in between almost every six hours. Used for 2 weeks like this then just the ibuprofen before bed. Hope this helps and good luck and please try & relax. xx

Unfortunately ibuprofen is more of a stomach irritant than paracetamol tilley x

I've been told not to take nurofen /ibuprofen whilst I'm doing the dvt injections.

I am sure her doctor would be able to recommend an anti inflammatory that could be taken by suppository or by injection. I know whilst in hospital I asked for painkiller as I couldn't sleep but was feeling sick so they put something in my drip. I am sure her specialist knows what best. But sounds like Welshgirl is a bit of a worry wort like me. So nice you are helping her. Knowledge is power.

I only had the one dvt injection in hospital. I started the ibuprofen when I got home under my spec advise. Think Welshgirl just needs to learn to trust her body and her specialist and relax. I know that not easy as real woory wort myself. Hope you are healing well xx

That's what I suggested tilley on another thread a few days ago. They have suppositories for all different painkillers including anaesthetic ones

that's great I am sure Welshgirl will be relieved to hear that

What does all this mean hahaha.have I said something wrong?😊

Just phobia with throwing up😢 can't help it.it has got better since having kids😘😘

Lots of people have this phobia and as nurses we get used to it. Just as easy to give a suppository because nobody wants you to have pain. You need to discuss it before your operation unless you have already because your pain relief will be written up and prescribed probably when you are in theatre x

of course you haven't siad anything wrong, I suggested isobupfen and matron pointed out it can upset your tummy. I mentioned you could probably get it administered by supp or injection and she replied that she had already posted about this previously. I simply said you would be relieved to hear you could. With regard to phobia re throwing up def mention it to your anesthetist they can admin something into you just as you are coming around so you feel better. As for throwing up tablets etc, I felt like that when they gave me antibiotics tablets- my throat was dry and they got stuck. It was all cleaned up with minimum fuss and I had actually forgotten it had happened until you brought the subject up. The staff were nice and brought me a coffee and a sandwich and offered to give me something if I felt nauseaous again. My dad gave me a little quote that sits next to my bed, hope it helps I say it when I am worried or anxious which i am alot. " Today is the day I worried about yesterday and all is well" all the best xx

Lovely post tilley and what a beautiful quote, I will remember that. Now welshgirl you are going to have to remain calm between now and Monday. If you go into your operation anxious you won't help your recovery or your blood pressure! Relax x

      Thanks matron,I hope I'm down first really.I got a question,will the

prolapse, because the bulge is by the entrance it makes my bottom feel heavy..will tgast heavy feeling go when they place everything back in outs place matron?xx

    • Posted

I meant will the heavy bottom feeling go when all is put back in place?xxx

After your operation you will probably have a feeling that there is something heavy in your vagina and there will also be a pulling sensation. Don't worry that is normal. I felt as though my "insides" were being dragged down but I knew from experience that this was normal, even so it was uncomfortable. So to answer your question, no you might think that things aren't back in place but don't worry because that's normal and I'll be here for you as will the other ladies if you need any advice and you know you can send me a personal message which I always respond to 😘

How long dfoies thee heavy feeling take to go? Is is the swelling that makes yuou feel like its not gone. I'm guessing when all healed the heavy bottom feeling g will go matron.💕💕were you nervous going in.xx

How long is a piece of string welshgirl? Everyone is different as I've said before. It depends on the extent of your prolapse and how many sutures but it's less uncomfortable following a cystocele repair.
