So, I've been diagnosed with a panic disorder and perscribed antidepressants. My main problem before antidepressants was that I felt nauseous 24/7 and had no apetite so it was a strugle to eat. If I have to go to school/outside the nausea gets almost unbearable and ofcourse eating outside is a no no. I've been taking antidepressants for 3 days and now and boy do I feel like crap, apetite 0 and nausea off the charts. Should I stop taking them? What could I do to make life tolerable again?

Hi. It's very early days for the meds to be working. You are probably feeling some side effects too. They can take a good 4 to 6 weeks to work and your symptoms may get worse at the start. Did your Dr not discuss this with you. You will need supportive and understanding people around you when you start taking them. Speak to your Dr to see if you can get any meds to help with the nausea. Hang in there it will get better. Good luck

Thank you for your reply, means a lot to get some encouragement I did talk with my psychiatrist about the first week being the hardest and the side effects but I'm just looking if anyone has similar problems and if they can share some advice on how to cope. I've been battling this for 9 months now, 4-6 weeks more doesn't seem that bad. Hopefully things get better this year.

Hi Jason. Sorry for your suffering. Since it's only been 3 days that you have been on the meds for three days I don't think that's the problem. If you continue to worry call your doctor. I think you will get better with psychiatric help. What do you think? Diane

I went to a psychologist for 12 weeks but felt no different, worse if anything, so I finally decided to seek psychiatric help just two weeks ago. Hopefully things get better soon.
