Social anxiety

I've read so many discussions on here about anxiety, in particular social anxiety, and how it affects day to day life.

I have never actually associated myself with this symptom as much as I have recently, thanks to Perimenopause.

I am now also finding myself cancelling social engagements with friends especially with the opposite sex thanks to this debilitating symptom. I hate it.

I didn't actually think it was a big issue but clearly it is. I've cancelled two coffee dates with a lovely man because I feel so anxious, self conscious and shy I guess. It's absolute madness.

I'm such a social person and people person by nature but am noticing a slight change now...it's horrible!

Any advice or tips from women who have or are xperiencing the same issues would be great

Thank you!

Hi Dora... It can be a very lonely physiological time for us ladies... I was the same. People became a chore to me... Life became the same... I came and are stil coming through it... This affects many women so please don't feel you are alone. I think us girls need to meet with ourselves in all this and allow ourselves to go with it. It can be an awful dark period... Like a bereavement... About how carefree and fun our lives were.. I find at times I go back down memory lane remembering the good ole times but I am much more positive now looking forward now... This is a season... You are not alone... Keep checking in here for support... Go easy there.. CK

    Hi Dora

It does help to breath through it and remind your brain that it will pass. I just hope this foes away soon. You do find yourself canceling events and people kind of act funny about it. I had a friend say, she miss her hanging partner, guess what i was thinking, me too.

See your doctor first to see if there is any treatment for you. Join a group of women that suffer from the same thing. Find the activity that you like. Stay positive!
