    Hi  Evelyn,

yes I can definitely relate to you. I did that for many many years and then I would imagine things happening to family members and my kids and it would drive me crazy!    I even went to counseling for that. What I learned was first of all I needed to get away from those horrible stories especially all the stuff you hear on TV.   we have to take care of ourselves. In order to do that we need to stay busy doing positive things. Stay away from the horrible news stories. Be active, exercise,  do something for other people  to make them happy, that always makes you feel better too. I no longer dwell on sad stories, I keep away and  if I do hear one I don't dwell on it. I feel sad for what happened but I don't let it make me feel sick or anxious anymore. You have to work at it but you can do it! If you have  A hard time overcoming it, I highly suggest talking to a counselor. Anxiety is the number one reason people school to counseling so they do see this every single day.

there are some great free meditative audios online that deal with overcoming negative thinking, anxiety, depression. Those helped me a lot. The key is stay busy, do positive things, exercise which helps a lot,  maybe even volunteer somewhere, don't let your mind drift to the negative.

Jan, Thank you so much for your positive reply. You are so right about keeping busy and exercising.  I will keep that in mind. You have no idea how your words of encouragement helped me. I feel so much better. Thank god i'm not alone with my feelings of negative thoughts.  I will keep all your positive words. Thank you again so much.

Maybe don't watch the news then? Sure that's obvious but I sometimes won't watch the news because it's so depressing.

Just be thankful your still here, sure anxiety isn't fun but your still here to talk about it.

Hey, this happens to me! Everytime I watch the news I get so depressed and start questioning my life and what if I die, what if something bad (illness related) happens to me and I go crazy. I start thinking about all those people going through bad stuff like that and it's a vicious circle. It doesn't help at all to think like this, we should be thankful we're still here and we should make the most of it. I'm sure everyone has a crisis like that in their life. Try breathing techniques, meditation, exercise and psychotherapy! Best of luck!
