I am much older than you, but can relate. I was hit with anxiety not too long ago. I never would have believed what it can do, what it tries to make you believe. I had been smoking just a couple of hits every night to help with insomnia. After the anxiety hit me like a truck on steroids I started having thoughts that were horrifying, worse than anxiety itself if such a thing is possible. i was desperately looking for answers not knowing yet that I had anxiety. It hit me that one of the things about pot is paranoia,( I watched my son go through it until I didn't know who he was anymore.) I stopped the pot and within a day or so, thoughts of disgusting things stopped. Then I was just dealing with anxiety, STILL not knowing I had anxiety. The awful thoughts of; I'm going to have a heart attack,(2 days after a clear ekg) I'm going to have a stroke, the pain in my head is a tumor, etc. but at least the thoughts of such horror that they made me vomit....stopped.
I said all that to say do not touch pot if you have or ever have had anxiety..never. That is indeed what got you. You know how to handle this, you have beat it before and will again. Two of the most common effects of anxiety I've seen posted in this forum, (and I've read a lot,) are...I'm going to have a heart attack and I have a brain tumor.
These are only thoughts, J4cobh, only thoughts. When they take hold, they can and do affect the body with fake symptoms. Take charge now, Take your mind back...it's running wild. Here's what I do and it works every time (some days I have to do it a LOT. I say, "Oh no you don't! You are only a thought and not real, so get lost and SHUT UP" then I change my focus. I and most people here say something physical works best...whatever you enjoy. Shoot hoops, go for a run, walk the dog, whatever you enjoy. This routine will help you get your mind out of the clutches of anxiety. It does work. Let us know how you are doing. I truly believe you can do this. Also, until this clears for you things that make anxiety worse are any sugars, including all soda, caffeine in any form and fast foods are things you want to avoid until you are on the other side of this. Eat as healthily as your can. Your body needs nourishment. Please, listen...I really do know what I am talking about. Be well

You got yourself all worked up and had a panic attack. Once you have one, it's a vicious circle. Therapy for what? Most of the time we don't know why this happens. Unless you feel like you need it, save your time and money. This is a chemical imbalance in the brain. No, not a brain tumor or bad heart. How about maybe you partied too hardy, and got yourself all jazzed up. I think you are a anxious guy. Talk to your doctor about anxiety meds. Tell them this is not your first time dealing with anxiety.
