Anxiety or Perimenopause

I have to admit that I am not 100% convinced that I am suffering from perimenopause. Yes, I am 44 and my periods are ridiculous and I have vision issues and migraines, but I also have a lot of anxiety. It all started with that darn migraine aura that scared the daylights out of me. I've had symptoms ever since, but is it just anxiety? Nearly ever post on here mentions anxiety. Is there anyone else out there that thinks maybe a few of us here are just suffering from anxiety/panic, but convincing ourselves that it is perimenopause? I know that I can attribute many of my symptoms to perimenopause, but maybe the suffering part is the anxiety. I'm confused.

hi staci I could have written this myself - im 43 and as you say my periods are all over the place, and ive had night sweats and insomnia for years, but the anxiety is by far the worst symptom yet i keep being told im too young for menopause, and hormone tests showed all normal, though i hear they are not reliable. i guess the thing is the anxiety for me comes in bouts and is really unexplained- its not like stress or 'normal' nervousness which makes me think its hormonal, but guess we'll never truly know until the periods stop for good, which is one of the most frustrating things, if i knew what was wrong i could come to terms with it!

Which came first the chicken or the egg? Anxiety cause stress, stress causes low progesterone, low progesterone causes estrogen dominance and adrenaline dominance. No matter your age anxiety and stress can lead to unbalanced hormones. All your glands have hormones and they can all be affected negatively by stress. Males and females alike. Women enter peri-menopause at different ages. Stress, anxiety, and some illnesses can cause you to enter early. I know of a few young girls in their early 20's that have gone 5 years without a period. Doctors are honestly clueless because it is not a one pill fixes all situation and that is all they are taught in school. If they can not fix the problem with a pill or two then they do not want to be bothered by you. Unbalanced hormones can cause so many health problems and that is what it is. Balance your hormones and watch miracles happen period. From birth to death your hormones need to be balanced in order to be healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally. This of course is just my humble opinion.
