    Melissa,

It's very common. My daughter is 24 she suffers from anxiety and severe ocd. She gets angry, lashes out at me and her brothers. I don't take it to heart but she feels so horrible and guilty afterwards. It's so painful to watch her beat herself up over it. I tell her that I know it's not who she is. That it's not her fault, and the guilt is just fueling the anxiety, it's a vicious circle.

My heart goes out to you, sweetie. Just remember, it's not who you are. You are not anxiety and ocd, you are suffering from it. Try to be kind to yourself and remember to breathe deeply and slowly to calm the adrenaline overload.

I found citalopram (an SSRI antidepressant) very effective for anxiety and panic attacks.

However I suffered from insomnia too - whether due to the anxiety or the citalopram I do not know, so I take mirtazapine plus SSRI.
