Here's the thing, Sandra. It's very counter-intuitive but you have to allow yourself to lose control. You need to allow yourself to feel anxious and not try to fight it or stop it. In fact you need to accept it as much as you are able and slowly get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable. Anxiety will not cause you any harm, it just feels like it will. Anxiety may tell you that you are going mad or going to die or any number of other frightening things. It lies. Nothing bad will happen to you apart from feeling uncomfortable with the symptoms of anxiety, fast breathing, heart racing, sweating, racing thoughts, feeling the need to escape etc. Stick with those feelings, dont run away, and the anxiety will slowly lose it's grip on you. I have heavily researched this, as, guess what, I suffer from anxiety and this is the advice from the best anxiety specialised doctors and also interestingly from experienced meditation masters. The more you resist anxiety the worst it gets. There is no need to as it will do you no harm whatsoever, It is, after all, your own protection system that is having this effect on you. I agree it feels horribly uncomfortable but you are totally normal in this. Many hundreds of thousands of people in this country are feeling exactly the same way as you right now (me too) but nothing bad has ever happened to any of them. It's ok to feel anxious. You will be ok. Nothing will happen to you. Good luck x

Understand how you feel exactly. I find simple things like just going out for a walk, completing a task (like clearing a cupboard) basically distraction so you don't think of. The anxiety and physical symptoms all the time because that just makes it all worse. Xx
