Any hippies had acl reconstruction prior to hip replacement ?

I will be 6 weeks on thursday and am still having lots of pain with my knee on op leg - also swelling - unable to straighten or bend without more pain ? My hip is also hurting still ,feels frozen inside daily !!!(only way I can describe it !! ) I still need both cruthes for stairs but can get around indoors on one level with one crutch .

My question is - I had acl reconstruction about. 5 years which healed but arthritis remained . My knee now feels as it did before reconstruction ? I cannot wait bear for longer than 5 seconds as feels it will give way and very painful - does anyone know if acl danage can re occur ? Im wondering this as I know they can be very rough with us during surgery :-( or any other suggestions will be helpful :-D

All kinds of damage can be done during surgery, or during recovery if we stress healing tissue too much. Take me, for example. I had no limp pre-op, and only the bone-on-bone pain, and not even too much of that. Now I am almost 9 months post-op and have had a severe limp and hip/thigh pain ever since. I have torn gluteal tendons causing the limp. I am scheduled for exploratory surgery on that hip in a month, both to repair the tendons and see what's causing all of that pain.

It may have happened during surgery or post-op during PT, we don't know.

I don't know anything about ACLs, but what's happening with your hip/thigh/knee sounds worse than usual. I assume you have been reporting this to your surgeon? He would be in the best position to diagnose what is going on. Beware, though, since I had to go to a different surgeon outside of the practice of my original surgeon, who just couldn't believe that I had anything serious going on. Thought I was fine, since the X-rays were fine, just "weak". Soft tissue damage doesn't show up on an X-ray. Good luck, Khippie!

My surgeon dropped me like a hot potato after I had him checked out because he injured my femoral nerve and it never came back......all he gave me was a handicap sticker and sooooooooo long as it sometimes happens in surgery! and of course you signed the paper not knowing anything ........I toooo have a numbness because of the nerve damage and my knee also feels like it can't function even though I had hip replaced.........it is a hurt I can't  explain and and does not function like it should ........take stairs up one at a time still hafter ten years !!!!
