Anyone changed SSRIs for Beta Blockers?

Hi everyone,

I take 10mg citalopram for anxiety. They were good for a few years but my anxiety is back. Following a visit to my GP and a pulse of 140bpm he sent me to the hospital for tests. Chest x ray, ECG, bloods etc were ok. I wore a heart monitor for 24 hrs, that was ok too. Waiting for an echocardiograph. The consultant suggested changing my meds to beta blockers for my anxiety. Has anyone had experience of this? Thank you

    Yea I'm on beta blockers now they work great smile

      Hi Lee, which ones are you on and how long did they take to work?

    Hi propanolol 3 x 10 mg it's the lowest dose and they work after about 1-2 hours after taking them and last for about 6 hours

    Np just ask for low dose bc they seem to wrk good

    since march 2015 suffering very bad, prop as been great for me , i take 40mg morning and 40mg tea time, also started on vit B compound and i feel amazing .

      Thanks Wayne,

      I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow. I've been reading forums and it seems you can take propranolol with citalopram. I'll check this out with GP. So glad you have found something that works for you. Cheers!
