Yeah I was in middle of replying to someone when it started and I couldn't get it to go away. I waited for it to finish but then it started over again. Very annoying. Has let me write this today so hopefully it's sorted.

I'm sure Alan the moderator for this website will have the definitive answer but I think you can get rid of Ads by subscribing ie pay a subscription.

Fi if you want feedback from Alan the Emis Moderator you will need to click on Report this then click Feedback from Moderator. I get ads but they don't interfere with anything I'm reading or responding to. A lot of them are for something related to health eg skin cream.

I will contact him if it continues. I'm on my phone and the ad covers all of screen and you can't get rid of it even once it's played it just starts over. Don't know why it's just started lately.

I'm not very technologically minded but I wonder if it's because the phone has a small screen? I use my iPad. However if it's a new thing then that's different because I've always seen ads but just at the side of the page. I can imagine how annoying it must be so I'm sure Alan will see your message and respond.

Not even health related. These are video ads

I find if I turn my phone off & start again it's ok. Matron might be correct in saying it's an iPhone thing but it only happens now and again. Very odd. ??

It's a tracking cookie, it will be on your phone, and related to something you have looked at online.

It won't be actually on this site.

We will all be seeing different ads.

You're right Laura. A lot if mine are related to websites I've been on. At the moment it's curtains (for my new house) ??

      I don't think you can Fi x

Well I turned phone for half hr So we'll see if it works. My ad was about a new half bike that's been designed in Germany. Haha.

I have an iPad so not sure if it's the same but I go into settings, click on Safari and it's one of the options there.

Yeah on an iPhone and I had pop ups turned off 😡

I may be wrong but I think websites like this one are funded by advertisements. When you look at the number of people who must be involved in producing information and monitoring forums it must cost a lot financially. Because the website is used by professionals as well the information must be accurate, all this research costs time and money. As I said earlier I'm sure  there is a way to stop them and that's to subscribe

I agree and I so r have a problem with sites advertising to help fund costs. What my frustration has been is it not ending but just goes on to repeat. Most ads play then continue to where you were heading but this is really strange. I haven't had any since I turned phone back on so hoping it's solved it. I've looked at my settings and I have pop ups blocked already. ??

Fingers crossed you've solved the problem. I checked my settings after you'd posted and I also have pop ups blocked. It must have been annoying trying to read posts and then an ad gets in the way. ????

Dunno! Clueless with this, I think you have to clear history,But then you would maybe loose stored passwords.
    • Posted

You don't lose your passwords you just have to add them when you next visit a page or website such as this one

    • Posted

No, just meant it doesn't auto store passwords, I have loads of different ones for safety, can't remember half of them so have them saved on iPad.

Sorry Laura, misunderstood. I told you it wasn't very technological ????
