Anyone ever need to up there dose after year and half?!

So long story short I've been on Prozac almost 2 years. I was on 5 mg during a pregnancy for depression and anxiety. After pregnancy last dec I upped to 10 mg. I've been doing pretty good. The last month I've really been up and down with both. Has anyone ever had to up the dose and this fix the problem or am I becoming tolerable to it and need something else? It's so aggravating.

I was taking fluoxetine for over 3 years and upped it three times through my doctor as I wasn't coping. Go and talk to your doctor, another ear to listen is always good. You need to be able to get through your day feeling good. Best of luck. E

Thanks! I def will consult my dr but they had told me that 10 mg is such a small dose that 20 is the recommended. I guess I just don't want to be on meds so I thought if I took a lower dose it would be easier to get off of. sad Did it help you when you increased or do you take a different medication now?

It definitely helped me once I increased my dose from 20 to 40mg. I found I coped so much better. It's amazing what a little increase can do. I have weaned myself off fluxeotine now and the side effects are awful. But I'm determined to stick to my decision. I'm planning on falling pregnant next year and was told by my GP that I can't be on anything so I thought to stop in now to give me time to try and cope later on next year but it is hard. Do go and see your doctor, try the increase and see if it makes a difference for you... You can only try right? smile

Hi Jayne, it was about 18 months ago when I upped my dose. I can't really remember now, but it was during a tough time when I lost my grandfather.

      Hi Jayne,

I don't want to tell you what to do but I'd give it more time then 6 weeks. I swear it took me at least 4-5 months to start feeling better. These meds take a while. Then you wil have good moments and then bad moments. It will continue to get better with more good then bad. Look up Katecogs on here. She is a blessing and helped me through a rough time. She has a lot of experience with it.
