i have had a crappy week, husband, health problems, nothing seems to be getting better even though I quit smoking 10 months ago. I don't drink, or take medication, I even quit coffee for a month, because my urolagyst said it was harmful. I now have one coffee. I gotta have sipomething.
Anyways all all I can think about sometimes is having a smoke, anyone else get like that?

Hi Pam!! Hang in there girl!! Please don't give in! I quit 16 years ago, cold turkey and now.....I feel nauseated even if I walk by someone that smells of smoke. When you get the urge, think of something positive in your life. You wonder how I quit and why I would never go back to it? One day, those many years ago, when our daughter was pregnant with our granddaughter, my husband said..."we need to quit, I want to see our grandchildren grow up". That was enough incentive for me and I've never looked back. Good luck Pam, and bless you!

. . . anyone else get like that?
Not any more, Pam. Not after ~3 years.
It's quite a hard road to be on but worth the effort.
?Quit all alcohol 10+ years ago, coffee 2+ years.
Tea and water are the "regulars" plus a bit of fruit juice.
Soup every day and, of course, a decent simple diet.
?Don't know if its going to extend my life-time though , , ,,

I was never sick when I smoked, never caughed or got short of breath. Got chest pain so I quit, was diagnosed 6 months later with copd. The dr says I should be happy it's mild considering I smoked for 27 years. I still have the chest pain, tried everything spent about 1000,00 buying heathy food, herbs, flutter bug, vitamins, healthy foods, read everything I could get my hands on but have gotten worse.
the dr says it will work its way out, does not know how long that will be but three perfect chest X-rays he is not concerned, and does not care I am in pain.
my husband still smokes, goes out not very often to drink, eats crap, has little empathy for what I am going threw. I actually thought when I quit smoking I woul get better, even better than before. But know all I think about is smoking, drinking a few beers, ice cream and a giant greasy hamburger. Sitting on my ass all day or just lying in the sun. Thanks for your replies it's tough.

I've never been on meds, short of breath, etc. I think anyone that smokes or has smoked has some sort of copd so I quit hoping I will never get those symtoms. Im in good shape, exercise, etc., I gained 10 lbs but I was underweight. I did take a few puffs like 6 months ago but didnt enjoy it enough to have another so maybe that will give you encouragement

Hi Pam, I've not had a cigarette for 5 years and still get cravings but I won't give in. I've stopped at least 5 times before, the longest for 2+ years. What I have learned is that there is no such thing as "just the one". That one inevitably leads on to full time addiction. Stay strong and be proud of yourself.

Don't beat yourself up just keep trying. They have things called tar bars you put on a cigg that traps all the bad stuff in the filter. Im not promoting smoking but it will help you with the quit. Also it has to be hard living with a smoker. I know I would have caved by now. You want to quit so thats the best start😊

I remember those it's a filter you put on the end of your ciggerete, I used them to quit smoking about 10 years ago wow they still sell them. Thanks I will keep that in mind. Well I think I had my fill of smoking for awhile I will try to go another ten months and keep myself busy as much as I can and work on avoiding stress. I was thinking meditation they have a lot on you tube, that may help me relax a bit. I have to to remind myself I have copd and not to take my lungs for granted.

I noticed you haven't been on here for awhile. We have close to the same quit date and was wondering how you were doing. I still crave and think about smoking everyday since my quit 15 months ago. People can give hints, tips, etc., etc but it's still there everyday!!! I know smoking is bad for us but then so is stress so I'm still smoke free but not stress free🤐
