Anyone have their gallbladder removed because of high ALT and AST? Do we need a specialist?

My wife had her gallbladder removed because of extremely high liver enzymes. ALT 1929 and AST 1289 ALKPHOS 211 . They did an ultra sound and found that the gallbladder walls were thickening and was inflamed with a large stone (5cm). After the surgery I asked if we needed to redo the blood test to see if those numbers came down. The doctor told us no but if we wanted he would order more blood test. Should I order more? And P.S these doctors have the worst bedside manner they told my wife it was Hepatitis so we did test and it came out negative. Then it was probably cancer scared the hell out of my wife and I we have a 6 month old baby boy at home. I don't understand why they say these things before they even know. Then all of a sudden its just the gallbladder and it needs removed so its gone now. Would it be smart to retest and keep looking for more issues or leave be and wait? There are so many things that cause high alt and ast but none are good.

    Mike.

of course she should have her bloods re tested mikes.

and not just her lfts either all of her bloods my friend .

im talking lfts full blood count a malaise lipase esr the lot !!!

Ann yes these doctors simply put cannot be JUST TRUSTED !!! In any shape or form !!

as unfortunately they lie lie lie and do not care or want to test anything anymore if yr talking about the

    N.o

    H.ope

    S.ervice

they seem to be more interested in killing us than saving us these days from what I can make of it !!

and they don’t care if your darling wife has a 6 month old baby at home either let me tell you !!

the 3 year ride I’ve had with them myself has been nothing short of attempted murder as far as I’m concerned

and it continues let me tell you !!

and yes of course she needs to be being seen by a specialist hepatolagist at kings college hospital if in U.K. as far as I’m concerned ,because they are the best we have their.

and after she has her blood tests re done mike , if they are still off out of sync ,do not let yr gp tell you the boloney

mine keeps trying on me that they can’t send you to Kings because it’s territorial and you have to be seen by a useless idiot gastro who knows nothing at all !

at yr local hospital etc because the law has changed my friend , TAKE NOTE IF HER BLOODS ARE STILL OUT AFTER RE TESTING , you can request to see any specialist you want to at any hospital you want within the whole nhs ok ,and do not let them fob you off and try to kill your wife cos let’s face it Mike, not doing the best for a patient in every way possible by these so called caring medical public purse money grabbers, amounts to attempted murder . Does it not ?

so keep on em keep driving them mad until you get to the bottom of it because as you rightly said mikey. She has issues with them numbers and you are correct none of them are good !!

good luck and let me know how you get on please.

    and remember this.

you got to keep pushing and fighting for help these days it’s not just their any more as I’ve found out.

best wishies to you and your family and merry Christmas.

Hi, they would;ve removed the gallbladder because of the stone  and the fact the gallbladder wall was inflamed but again probably down to the stone which was causing these high blood readings and should return to normal after surgery.

If your wife is still having problems then yes go back to your doctor but if not then your wife needs to let herself recover. It takes alot longer than we think it'll take to recover.

Unfortunately doctors these days have to give the worst case scenario otherwise they get complaints  as they haven't said because of the world that we live in and yes I know that some aren't the best with people but not all. My father was recently told he may have bowel cancer as one of the conditions luckily it was only a hiatus hernia but after working in this industry for a few years I understand why they have to do this.

If your wife is really worried then have the bloods done again. You don't say how long ago your wife had surgery, it is quite common for women that have recently been pregnant to get gallstones and be fine afterwards.

Let me know how she's getting on. Take care.
