Anyone know anything about this?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hey there, I am a young male and I have had this for a number of years. I don't recall when it happened due to my depression, but I have never seen anyone about it.

It is hugely demoralising and I was hoping this forum could possibly shed some light on what it is?

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

Notes: it doesn't hurt, the texture seems turn a little rough and then the skin falls away... If you need to know anything more, please feel free to ask, thank you in advance!

Hi Bob. I think you should have it checked with your doctor it could possibly be lichen sclerosus if it is you will need treatment with at least some steroid cream. your doctor will probably refer you to a dermatologist or urologist who specialises in these conditions. Is your frenulum or foreskin affected with it?

Thank you so much for the reply, I have seen some bits about LS and BXO but I wasn't sure. I will try and get it seen to ASAP

The frenulum can become a bit tight after intercourse, and the foreskin is fine as far as I'm aware.

That's the best thing to do get it see as soon as you can. Your frenulum in the Last photo does look a little tight and pale in colour. Do let us know how you get on with your doctor if they are not sure about it you could ask about a referral to a dermatologist.

Where you have the lighter patches is the texture of the skin different from that surrounding it, or is it just the same smooth feeling?

Are the patches slightly raised from the other skin surrounding them?

Once you have a diagnosis you can update your post here if you need further advice as to what to do ......

The texture is mostly the same I guess, it is slightly raised, the dots are more prominent than the large patches of light skin, and the frenulum is tight/slightly rougher.

Not been able to get in to a GP yet, trying to build up the courage.

Hi Im just wondering, do you feel itchy in the white patches or any other irritations? and do those white patches expand or spread over the years?

Also, when you run you finger through the glans, does the white patches seem to be slightly elevated relative to the surrounding skin? Or is it sorta like erosion/pitted?

It's not itchy, there are no other irritations that I have come across, it's localised, other than a couple more singular spots popping up, the main portions have stayed the same.

They are slightly elevated relative to the surrounding skin, they're not pitted

I see, thank you for the reply. I'm also having issues with my glans, and at this point, it's definitely best to get it checked by GP, and a biopsy may help to put things at easy.

I understand the reticence or simple anxiety of getting a health professional to check your genitals for you - I have been in that situation myself on many occasion.

So take a deep breath, or a number, or whatever it takes, but get up the resolve to say to yourself that you are booking the appointment, and, you are going to go and get checked.

I also know personally, as someone who has an incurable genital skin condition that the longer you leave the problem without a diagnosis the harder it will be to treat, and the outcome will be less favourable to your genital skin.

Simply, do your penis a real big favour and go and get checked.

Depending on in which country you live there are other places you can go other than a GP - any sexual health / STI service provider, if you are in the UK there are GUM Clinics at general hospitals or in city centres - or if you have access to your own specialists through health insurance cover, go see a Dermatologist or Urologist

PLEASE update once you have been checked

Don't forget those deep breaths - now, go do it ......
