Hi, ive just been diagnosed with overactive thyroid, im waiting to see an endo. At the hospital. I feel really rough most days, shaky, light headed and the most weird head sensations which really bother me, pressures and heavy feelings at the top of my head, this is almost every day and is debilatating and miserable. I have had a head and ear scan and im awaiting the results.

very worried and down. Is this a symptom of the complaint, does or has anyone had this?. Im hoping to get seen to very soon for meds.

hoping for re assurance!?.

Hi Cathy.  We are all different and the Graves symptoms vary from patient to patient.  I got palpitations, temors and lost a stone in weight - all in a fortnight.  As you are not on meds yet please don't worry.  As soon as you get some carbimazole or similar I'm sure you will gradually feel a lot better.  I usually get my GP to presecribe a low dose while I'm waiting to see the endo.  It can then be adjusted when you see a specialist.  Also make sure you get regular appointments to check your levels.  I respond very quickly to meds and need careful monitoring.

Hi Cathy, I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago, and among a whole lot of other symptoms I often felt light headed and shaky. I also felt extremely ill but after taking carbimazole for 3 weeks, I suddenly started having some good days.  Now 6 weeks later these good days are outweighing the bad. I`m not back to my old self just yet but I can see an improvement- so to reassure you, I`ve had to be patient but the results have been worth it. Try not to worry this disease is very treatable, I just think that it sometimes takes a while to get the levels correct.  Hope you feel better soon xx
