Anyone tried Tranexamic Acid

Posted , 4 users are following.

I'm going to see my doctor on Tuesday to discuss my heavy blood loss when on my period. It's horrendous, bright red, flooding and leaves me feeling etxremely fatigued for days after.

My periods stopped for 3 month in the summer but since starting hrt patches in September they started again.

I have small fibroids. I've read about tranexamic acid and wondered if anyone has tried it, was it successful, any side effects?

Thanks for any info

Hi yes I've been on them too, does slow the bleeding but I find taking them everyday during my period can stop your periods so I only took them for 3 days to stem my bleeding...but did help.

Thank you Maria, that's encouraging to hear. I daren't leave the house for fear of flooding when on my period so I need to try something x

I've been on tranxemic acid for 5 months. It's slowed the bleeding but because my bleeding is continuous, I'm not sure how it would go for a period as such.

I have put on weight since taking it and have brutal headaches everyday. It's the only option I have until a hysterectomy.

Just a side note, my chemist told me tranxemic acid should only be taken for 4 days.

Thanks Edith. I'm back from doctors now and she gave me the tranexamic acid. I'm 58 soon and still having regular heavy monthly periods, flooding for 3 days, leaving me drained and fatigued. I have some spotting during the month. Hopefully these tablets will help lessen the flow. Do you start taking it on the first day of your period?

You take it the day you get it on your period or not. Hope it helps you. I take 6000mg a day. I'm surprised they don't give you a hysterectomy. They must have their reasons. Anyway, I hope you get some relief.
