My mum has just been admitted to hospital with the outcome after all the various tests being aspiration pnuemonia . Before she was admitted she felt she was unable to eat anything solid as she had a constant feeling that something was stuck in her food pipe. Today two days after being admitted she had a camera put down her throat to see if there is any obstruction. She came back onto the ward after the procedure with a nasogastric feeding tube up her nose leading to her stomach, and is not allowed to have a drink orally just a sponge on a stick to wipe around inside of her mouth. I asked the nurse has my mum got a blockage in her oesophugus and thats why she is being fed liquid food through the gastric tube and she told me she wasnt sure and for me to best speak to the doctors but on monday morning. Can anyone please correct me if i am wrong but if my mum has had a camera procedure to check for a blockage and comes back with a feeding tube up her nose and is unable to have a normal drink surely something is not right and she must have a blockage? I am worried sick as she still has the pnuemonia to contend with and my brother had oesophugal cancer a couple of years ago . Please can anyone tell me, should i be concerned? Please do not sugar coat it i prefer the honest truth . Thankyou
