    Sarah,

Please go see a Sports medicine Doctor

I have been dealing with practically same symptoms for over a year now, and now by 2:00 PM I am barely able to walk.

You might have a herniated disk that might be causing nerve entrapment (pinch nerves). Get a MRI!

Ouch!  It sounds like something I've been experiencing for almost two years now.  I wrenched something in my back while out jogging.  I tripped, but in an effort to keep myself from falling, I hurt my back.  It put me out of commission for over a week and lingered for many months after that.  It too radiated down my right leg.  Eventually, the symptoms went away, except for an occasional pang now and again.  Then, last December, while shoveling snow, I hurt it all over again.  Although I never felt anything while shoveling, the next day was brutal.  Again, I was out of commission for about a week.  Now the symptoms come and go.  I've learned some stretches and exercises I can do to help alleviate the symptoms and I take a lot of Advil.  It's been suggested to me, by both a chiropractor and a physical therapist that my L-5 is out of alignment.  I believe the burning sensation going down my leg s sciatica.  I'm on the mend, but still a ways to go.

I don't want to give you depressing information but since you've had pain this long the likelihood of you getting to the point of no pain it's pretty small. I suggest you see a pain management specialist so that you can start managing your pain. A good pain management doctor will offer steroid injections in the spine, perhaps have a spinal cord stimulator, if you can have one of those implanted in your back works great fora lot of people, a prescription for either pregabalin or Gabapentin. Both of those drugs help with the pain going down your leg. And if you want to and your doctor feels it's okay you can also get a prescription for an opiate type pain medicine. A common one prescribed for people is Percocet. It is a combination of an opiate and acetaphetamine (which is Tylenol).

You want to continue seeing your physical therapist or at least continue to do the exercises. They may not reduce your pain but they will help to keep the pain from getting worse and it will keep you mobile. By not doing anything your muscles will atrophy and your back will begin to hurt worse then it does now. I suggest you use ice or heat. I've been told by doctors and physical therapist that it doesn't matter which one at this point ( initially when the pain begins his when you only want to use ice to help reduce). It's whatever one makes you feel better. You might also want to invest in a TENS unit. Personally I get a lot of relief with one and I know a lot of people that do get some relief from it. They are not very expensive either. I bought mine just a few months ago (it was my third one, I've worn out all the others). On Amazon for $30.00. Depending on where you live and what is legal, medicinal marijuana helps a lot of people control their pain. There's also something called CBD oil which is made from hemp and it helps a lot of people as well.

I have lived with severe back pain for 13 years. So I'm telling you all of this is based on my own personal experience. However I am not a doctor so I would encourage you to check whatever you do with a medical professional before you do it.

I belong to a few groups on Facebook for people with chronic pain and I get a lot of information and support from these groups. So if you do Facebook I recommend you check out these groups. There are also websites that are directed at chronic pain patients. And these websites also offer support and information from other sufferers.

I know this post is long but I wanted to make sure I gave you as much information as I could to help you. I hope things get better for you, I don't like to think of anyone having to go through what I've been going through or worse. I hurt horribly bad but there are people that hurt a lot more than even me. My husband likes to say that I do not "Corner The Market on Pain." LOL
