Back to Work with anxiety

I've been off work for 2weeks booked as holidays and I'm due to go back tomorrow. I'm really anxious and stressed about it as I had a very big break down when speaking to my supervisor before I was off. My job isn't difficult I just find it very stressful as I have to speak to people that can some times be very rude for no reason which really upsets me. I also get moved around a lot as I work in a hospital which throws me off as well as a large work load. 

Id love some advice on how to handle the back to work stresses as I'm currently very upset and have stomach pains just thinking about it sad

    Going back to work will be stress full I wouldn't know I'm on sick with what I have and the stomach pains will be nerves hope it all works out for ya

    Have you been treated for anxiety/panic attacks in the past? I take ativan 0.5 mg twice a day as needed it helps with my anxiety. A lot of people don't like the meds but they sure help in many ways..

      No Ive only recently been referred to go for counselling which I'm waiting to start in the upcoming weeks. I've always had issues with anxiety growing up but have dealt with it by ignoring it, it's got to the point where I can't keep ignoring it anymore. My gp didn't even suggest medication when I saw him (even then I was in floods of tears) it might be worth me going back and asking before I start counselling. Thanks smile

      Yes get some meds they do help.. My ativan I take as needed but it works quick when I'm having bad anxiety.. My Zoloft I take at night and it helps me sleep.

      That is true! I'm so easily offended when it comes to rude people it just makes my job hard work sad usually people stand their ground and argue back but I'm like "umm..ok" and put the phone down trying not to sound upset. People can be horrible smile

    I'm so sorry you feel this way, I know all too well how it feels. My only advice would be to persevere and go to work however you feel. I say this because 4 years ago I was signed off when I had anxiety for a couple of weeks, I kept getting so afraid of going back that I was signed off again and again until it came to 6 months and by that time I was petrified to go back so I quit my job. I was encouraging my fear and increasing the belief in it, so if you want to stay in your job I would suggest you pull through and keep telling yourself it will get better. 

    Are you on medication?

      This is really good advice! I have come into work, I was a bit upset this morning but after speaking to my manager she's really supporting me and told me to go to her as much as I need to. Its been an okay day just be glad when it's home time! 

      No im not on any medication, I'm thinking it would be good for me but I'm a bit worried about it at the same time

    let other peoples anger or stress wash over you.  It is their problem not yours.  If you can learn not to take things personally then you maybe won't get upset so easily.

    I hope work goes better after your break and remember your achievements you have made already in your life.
