Hello everyone,
I've recently been diagnosed with BV 2 weeks after coming off antibiotics to treat my UTI. I originally went to get checked for STI's as I had recently had a new boyfriend (sex partner). Thankfully I was clear of any STI's but was given antibiotics to treat the BV. I had a foul smell for a couple of weeks, I could even smell it through my trousers at work. The discharge was grey coloured and what seemed to be constant. The antibiotics eventually cleared up the discharge and smell. The irritation, itchiness and discomfort began to clear as well... To what I thought anyway. A month into the new year with all these vaginal complications, I decided it's time to be sexually active with my boyfriend again, like we used to be. But the pain was unbearable! Burning, itching! And since then it's been the same.
I've been sexually active since I was 14 (I'm aware that this is a very young age) I am now 19. I've never had an STI, I have very few sexual partners in the past and BV is now ruining my sex life with my partner.
I've read things about different vitamins, home remedies including milk and garlic, medications, creams... But I'd like to know what really cures this horrific infection.
And if any one is going through it too, I am so sorry and feel your pain completely.
Thank you very much for any help

Ive had it four times this year (and just confimed last week I have it again). I'm starting an extended course of antibiotics to try to get rid of it. The doctor also recommended my partner be treated too in case he's re-infecting me. I'm worried this is never going to go away, the symptoms are constant are really uncomfortable and embarassing. I know just how you feel

Gosh that's a lot.
Have you used any other type of medication besides antibiotics?

I feel your pain, I'm 21 and have had this for 6 months - tried all the anti biotics under the sun and still nothing. Depressing.
I'll let you know what I find out from my specialist Tuesday - do you get constant itchy sore discharge ? like not have a day off?

If you could that'd be great!
Before I was given antibiotics I had terrible discharge that had an awful odour. The antibiotics cleared the smell thankfully and I haven't had it for a month now. All I am suffering with now is extreme irritation; itching and burning. It's very painful after sex.
For the past 3 days I've been eating natural yogurt, nuts, water and a follic acid tablet. My pains lowered slightly. I am on my period so hopefully that is flushing away some kind of bad bacteria.
I am also using balance activ gel. I'm guessing that's slightly helped me with the pains too.
Sorry for the in depth reply, just some help with my experience

Mixed nuts and fruits, almonds especially. It's more to help with my fibre intake, just to be sure im digesting foods properly.
I haven't experience much discharge lately. Before, I had it all the time, at work I'd feel it almost every 20 minutes.
The itchiness comes after I use the toilet and wipe.

Hi I'm sorry your going through this I can help you get rid of the foul smell I was advised by a doctor at the sexual health community centre do not wash your private parts with soap or any thing scented including shower gels instead put some salt in a jug of luke warm water and wash your private area this helps balance the PH it worked for me
I hope it works for you too xx
