Bad throat pain for almost 1 year

I am a 26 year old female from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I found this forum when I was actively researching my diagnosis (LPR). I have been reading different topics, and decided to create a profile and maybe get some answers.
So I have been dealing with throat issues for almost a year now. I basically had strep throat for 6 months straight (April - October). I was referred to an ENT, who took my tonsils out on October 17th 2014. My throat infections have stopped, but now I am dealing with something called Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (Silent Reflux). When I am sleeping, acid comes up from my stomach and burns my esophagus, vocal cords and throat. I was put on a ppi called pantoprozole almost a month ago, and don't feel any relief yet. My mom reminded me that I have a hiatus hernia, since I was a child, but it never bugged me untill now. It's what's most likely the cause of my LPR. It's coincidence that it started to act up around the same time of the constant infections. My voice has also been hoarse this whole time. I am not sure what to do anymore. This is definately effecting my life and I am soo tired of having terrible throat pain all day, every day! I am in desperate need of advice/support from people dealing with this same thing. Thanks for reading.

Thank you for replying to my post. Yes, I have been going through hell with this throat for the past 10 months. I am going back to see my ENT soon. I am starting to think there is no cure for LPR. I really hope I don't have to live with it for the rest of my life!.

It's just brutal to go through all of this. I hope you can find relief with all of this, feb. I am also thinking of surgery. At this pont, i will try anything. I had my tonsils removed a few months ago because of constant throat infections, and now this. In april, it will be a year of having a constant sore throat every day of my life.
