Been outside today

5 weeks post abdominal hysterectomy tomorrow. I have been outside my house for 3 hours today. I shaved my legs in the shower and after the shower, I put on makeup! I went to the shop...alone. I had a 30 minute car ride (not driving), I spent 45 minutes being shown around a place where I am thinking of applying for a job and then I had a 30 minute ride home. Then I made dinner.

I am currently sitting waiting for the tiredness, pain, spotting and swelling that others have reported but so far so good. Please, please, please let this mean that I can now do more stuff.

If I wake up tomorrow in agony, I will be gutted

I am now twenty days post vaginal hysterectomy with posterior and anterior repair.  Have had a very rough time with infections and had to be re admitted to hospital.  But today I went to the doctors for more swabs to be taken, came home had lunch and took a one and half hour round trip in the car to take my son to the airport with husband.  Was lovely to get out and about.  I admit I was only sat in the car but so nice to feel normal again.  I ve made sure I m up, showered and make up on every day since I came home.  I ve sat and relaxed since we got back and will be doing nothing tomorrow.  The nurse did tell me today that she could still see lots of internal stitches and some old blood so I realise I am still in the recovery period.

You've done brilliant, I am 7 weeks post op and hadn't done a lot at 3 weeks apart from you get lots of infections that set me back. My internal stitches from posterior repair didn't start coming away until week 5, saw them in the bath. Once they came away the infections did clear up quicker. How do you feel inside where the stitches are, I still can feel the bumpy mess where stitches were and keep thinking I've prolapse. God the things of go through lol. Would love to be a man instead, easy life ha ha.

I feel fine inside Val.  Only thing I can feel is when I sit down I can feel one of the lower internal stitches.  They took another high vaginal swab to check on the infection today and also a urine sample.  Had a bit of leakage last couple of days when coughing which is new so wondered if there might be an infection there as well.

We are all so different! I am 5 weeks post TAH and started driving again last week . But still can't walk far. Am doing more round the house now but no hoovering or shopping or heavy stuff. My hubby has been very good and told me not to do this  or that! I am still needing a good 2 hours rest each afternoon before kids come home. If not couldn't do the dinner etc. it is hard going and some days feel like not getting anywhere. I have noticed this week though, that my stomach seems swollen some days and definitely aches a lot as does my back.  Not yet started HRT and hoping that may help as still not sleeping well and have some joint pains. I would just say take it easy, baby steps and all that. The days I have done a fair bit more, I have definitely paid for it . Here's hoping things carry on going well for you. I am out tomorrow and have been out few times recently . Last weekend was busy and a full day leaves me shattered. People keep stressing that it is a big op and a long recovery. I am nowhere near my previous level of fitness and no plans for back to work yet. Take care

Well done, listen to your body though, so no heavy lifting or over stretching I am still having odd days of discomfort and I'm 5 months post op!

Well, I feel ok today. I slept for 10 hours though and I had to take ibuprofen and paracetamol before bed. Not doing much today, apart from my little walk and the pots. Might make dinner again. I think having stairs has helped as I have had to go up and down to the loo since day 3 when I left the hospital. Couldn't stay upstairs in bed all day as it would have driven me batty. So I was forced to do a little exercise...I need the loo A LOT. Let's hope it keeps improving. Not ready for work yet, by any means but I have up to 16 weeks for that as that is how long my cover person has been hired for. Don't think I will need that long at the moment.
