Hi ladies,

I woke up at the weekend covered in blood and also had little clots, i had no aches or pain in my tummy, I thought ok my monthly is here! Then a few hours later it turned to the brown stuff, then next day i spotted, and now im clear again....im totally confused is this normal for the perimenopause please?

Last month I started with the brown spotting (started like brown stringy stuff) right at mid cycle, and spotted for weeks, then I think it turned into a period. So screwed up. So far I'm not spotting this month. Will see if I get a "normal" period. I think nothing is "normal" in peri. Finding this out! It's so annoying. I might not be spotting this month because I'm on daily progesterone.

Yes it is.  Very odd periods happen during perimenopause.  Late periods, shorter periods, extended long periods, changes in texture, color, clotting of period, you name it.  Even starting and stopping during periods.  It's SO much fun, isn't it?

Totally usual (I won't say normal, nothing about peri can be called normal!!) Try not to worry increased cortisol through stressing can make things worse, just go with it. Just watch how much you bleed for, prolonged bleeding can cause anaemia. But loads of us are experiencing exactley the same

Hi Samantha. I had very heavy periods the last 6 months to a year before I stopped. I spoke to the Dr about it because the clots where horrible, and I was told my periods would get lighter over time. This NEVER happened, I continued with very heavy periods where I had to decline going out

unless I knew I would be near to a toilet. Sometimes my period would last10 days, other times I had brown stuff and not blood and then I stopped

December 2014 and never had another. No one was more shocked than me because it had never got easier prior to this. I also woke up some

mornings and like you had come on during the night. I do believe this is

all part of it and everyone is different. Hope this helps.

    Thank you Ladies,

I really do appreciate you All for sharing your experiences with me...I am still trying to get to grips with this!

I had my mirena coil out in March this year and still not seen a proper period yet.

This perimenopause really is scary and it is teaching me so much about my body....

    Thanks again x

I have spotted before my period..went fully away for a few days then had my real period. This happened for a few years. The last 2 periods my spotting became alittle more than spotting, thinking i got my period..but then went away and now it feels like my period is coming again. Also, it was 9 days early. Just now after 2 years is my periods coming a few days earlier..and getting different. I tried to plan my vacation on not having it...ugh. I am all emotional right now. It's a process....I try to ask my body what it wants as to honor it the best I can thru this . Hope I helped you.

    Dear Samantha

Sounds like start of peri, it was the first sign for me. I had a few heavy clotting periods and then what seemed like endless spotting where it felt my period was coming but it didnt come to anything x
