Blisters with negative swabs?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have had blisters pretty much constantly for months. They flare up then heal then flare up again a few days later and it goes on and on.

ive had several swabs of blisters but they keep coming back negative for Herpes. i think they dry so fast im not getting there quick enough.

i dont have any tingling/aching/swollen glands or ill feeling. Just really itchy all the time and open sores.

In england blood tests for herpes arent widely offered and are known to be unreliable. I luckily was given one which again came back negative.

i am pretty sure i have herpes but cant seem to get an answer.

has anyone else been through this??

I just want an answer 😦

As I said, I’ve been having blisters flare up for months. But they come for a week or so and go, a couple days after healing they flare up again.

The doctors don’t seem to have an answer. They say it might be herpes but have no other insight. As my tests keep coming back negative they can’t say that it definitely is herpes but they can’t seem to give me another explanation.

I don’t have any pics and it’s just healed up but I expect in a couple of days I’ll have another flare up.

I was wondering if anyone else had been through this and if they ever had an explanation/diagnosis.

you should ask your doctors for antivirals and see if that helps. I mean it is a way to find out if it is, because if they don't know either they could at least try to give you something that might help.

Are you a male or female?

I know vaginal blisters are common and not always related to herpes, it depends on the appearance. You can get blisters from friction, ingrown hairs etc.

I’m female. The blisters definitely aren’t from ingrown hairs. They are open sores like ulcers. They are incredibly itchy. They seem to be individual blisters, not clusters of little ones, but I get maybe 5 at a time around my bum and down my bikini line. The skin around the whole area gets very itchy.

I do have constant menstrual bleeding due to a hormone issue which means I am wearing pads most of the time. I wondered if it could be linked to that.

It could be from friction of the pads? It's hard to say. I would see your doctor and they can swab the blisters for you and you'll know for sure.
