Have been on fluoxetine for 3 weeks. I just recently started having blurred vision and last night and this morning have felt dizzy and light headed. Anyone else have this happen??

Hi Peetle,  yep - had both!  Like I said earlier, it took me until week 12 to start feeling remotely 'normal' again. Until then, like you, I often felt light-headed - "spliffed out"! As for the blurred vision, I'm sorry to say, this hasn't really gone - my vision is definitely not as good as it was before I started the tabs.

    Sorry I can't be more cheerful, it's just such a S-L-O-W process!!

I had called my doctor and she told me to stop taking it. Which was upsetting because I don't want to go through withdrawals or start a new med. So I don't know what to do...

Hey peetle well on my experience I started feeling better by week 5 and on, I did feel light headed, ask your doctor if maybe you should up it maybe.. I started off at 40 mg

      Take care xooo wink

Hi Peetle, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to up the dose yet, you haven't given it long enough for your present dose to take proper effect and upping the dose will put you back to square one on the adjustment parameters. Maybe talk to your GP again and see if they agree to you continuing? You don't mention your current dose, I'm assuming that, like me, you're on 20 mg?

I'm actually only on 10 mg. I have a doc appt tomorrow... I was surprised she said to stop taking it.. I don't want to have withdrawals or start over.

This whole process is confusing. I hope the doc and I figure something out soon. I just want to feel better and normal..

Maybe it's worth asking the practice whether there's a dr there with a special interest in mental health & depression? I think I was lucky with my GP - he seems to be so well-informed on Fluoxetine.  I even collapsed once, on my walk home from work - so went straight to my GP practice.  They were brilliant - took bloods and booked me in for a check-up, but didn't suggest I stopped taking it.  Blood results showed low sodium which has now resolved.  Sorry Peetle, but like I said - and so many others on this site, it's a tedious, long journey adjusting to this med.

      Hugs

So I didn't take the med last night because the doc said not to. Woke up real early. Tried doing yoga and just relaxing. But, I have that burning chest pain in my heart. I have an appt this evening with my doc. I'm just really feeling down and worried :-(

How's it going Peetle - did your GP come up with anything helpful?

Hi anne, thanks for checking in. My doc decided to take me off the fluoxetine. She said because I didn't do well with paxil, zoloft or this there may just be an issue with this group of SSRI's. So I'm weaning off the flu now. It's been rough. Even though I wasn't on it long it still has had an affect. I see her again on the 9th. Hopefully to discuss what to do next....
