Hello ladies.
I'm 13 weeks post surgery. I never had any problem about bm before surgery. But suddenly I started to have constipation couple of weeks ago. I used to do bm every morning without efforts. But now I open the bowel every second day. Amont of poo(?) seems not enough. I have discomfort. Also I have pain every early morning I guess it's due to gas.
I'm very disappointed because I didn't have any bm problem before surgery.
Is it getting better later ? Or has the surgery made it harder?😭

Invest in something like a Squatty Potty, it eill help get the corect angle for a thorough BM. Painkillers are a devil for giving you constipation, as well as the upheaval of the surgery. Please make sure you so do not strain as this is pressure on your pelvic floor.
You didnt say if it was surgery for a rectal prolpase?

I know how you feel, before surgery I never had a problem with bms, but since I have had several episodes of constipation. Sometimes stool softener has worked ( lactulose) or if desperate a laxative. Very depressing! Don't know what the answer is but wish I could get back to normal!

I'm 9 weeks post surgery for posterior and anterior repair and pelvic floor surgery. I have the exact same problem. I used to go a few time every day (took laxido) but never felt 'empty'. Now I only go every other day constantly feel like I want to go but the muscles don't seem to want to work. My BMs are soft but not as soft as before although he still take the same amount of laxido. I think some of it is that I haven't been as active and some that I'm still a bit wary of pushing. A stool does help (I use the bathroom bin) but it's actually feeling no the need to go that I struggle with. Hope you get it sorted x
