Booked for a biopsy of a lump, worried it's cancer.

Hi,

So my problems started a year and half ago where I would get a feeling of a lump or something in my throat/back nose, this has continued throughout the year, with worse and better months. I have also experienced soreness in my ear a lot of the time. Last month was actually really good and I barely noticed these symptoms at all.

about 3 months ago i finally managed to get and endoscopy done, doc said that he can see lump / adenoid mass in my nose but that shouldn't cause much of symptoms. I didn't manage to take a photo of it at time. referred for CT scan but came back all clear apart from that mass which radiologist agreed that its an enlarged adenoid. Got another visit booked for a month later just to check up. (Note: I get a lot of allergies like hayfever, dust, etc)

So a week ago, I went in for my post scan appointment (mail said that it looks fine but they want another look at it) which was with a different doctor from the first. He saw the mass and said that he would like me to have a biopsy under a general anaesthetic. Everything was very vague, but from looking up on the internet I expected it to be a case of adenoid hypertrophy or something since it seems common, also I had nearly no symptoms before this appointment.

I managed to take an image of the mass this time:

This obviously gave me some anxiety since I haven't seen it before and it looks horrible. Should I expect bad news from the biopsy or are these adenoid growths common and most likely nothing malignant? Just trying to figure out how likely it is to be bad.

Thanks,

Norbert
