Bowel cancer surgery recovery

I have recently had surgery to remove a bulky tumour from my colon with also a foot in length of my large colon. My lymph nodes were removed as they were enlarged. I have not had full results as due to see consultant in a few weeks. I have no stoma. What is the recovery time. o
I didn't really get much info on recovery from the hospital. I'm suffering with back pain. How long until stitches go. Sorry for the questions but Operation was only recent. Also since I had bad dioreah two days ago have not passed a stool is this normal

I'm in a similar situation. Had a large tumor removed about 3 weeks ago from colon. I'm seeing surgeon next week and I expect to find out about staging then. Recovery is 4-6 weeks. I'm pretty quick. It's been 3 and half weeks and I'm walking okay, but slowly. Don't lift heavy stuff. Don't over exert yourself. Rest a lot. You have too, especially at the start.
Going to the toilet is...interesting. I lean more towards constipation. Eat often and small amount. If you get constipated use a stool softener (you should have been prescribed some). I got a round rubber ring from chemist to sit on when my rear is sore. Also prunes are good to help you go. But if you have diaoreah then you won't need them.

Hello Bunny77 I had my transverse colon removed 6 weeks ago and yes painful for first 2 weeks bug thats what the meds are for to aid recovery and slow you down. Im inpaitent and tried to do too much too soon...was walking around and doing light housework by week 4. Then had a set back my wound got infected and 3 weeks later after daily packing it has finally closed!! Back to work 3 hrs a day then working ftom home the rest. Bowels back to once a day bug softer however if i ha e lots to eat in one sitting i feel sore under my ribs. I start my chemo this thursday and friday for the next 24 weeks. But everyone is different but rest, a good diet and short walks are the best medicine oh and sunshine....might be shirt of this now! Good luck and wish you a speedy recovery 😊

I don't need softeners anymore because I eat prunes in syrup. Just a few a day. They work well for me.
