Okay so I have HSV 1 "down there" and i havent had an outbreak in over 8 months. My boyfriend woke up this morning with a huge cold sore by his mouth. Should I stay as far away from him as possible?! I have doubled up on all my meds just not sure if we should be intimate or what. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

No, you cannot get reinfected by a partner regardless of where it is if they have the same strain as you. It will NOT cause you to have another outbreak.

as I know, you can also suffer from another outbreak if you intimate with an infected person and your immune system is weak. Generally, your body produces herpes antibodies to fight off this virus overtime, but if your immune function isn't enough strong, it's more vulnerable to suffer from another outbreak. So, i think it's better to avoid intimating with your boyfriend during this time
