Breakdown at work...

I've just been for an eye test because I get headaches at work. I have noticed for last 2 years that one of my pupils goes slightly bigger than the other sometimes and I mentioned this to my optition again as I had done at my perious eye test 2 years ago but it was a different man last time. Last time he didn't refer me to anyone and this time the man said from what he can see my eyes are in good health but after what I told him (even though he couldnt see any sign of it) he has refered me to a specilist because it could be sinister. As you know 'could be's' and 'maybe's' are an anxious persons worst fear and now I have worried myself sick. I just completely broke down at work but luckily my work friends know me well and are aware of my condition. My referal app isn't for 6 weeks...how do I stop worrying for 6 whole weeks? I'm going to drive myself insane...I wish I never said anything

    Hi Kerrinclaire.

In one hand I think it is good that a cause for your concern is going to be addressed once and for all! On the other hand, the wait is never nice.

Try and tell yourself how relieved you will be when you are told you are okay. During really bad moments you can share your fears with loved ones and close friends..or even here!

I don't really know what advice to give in terms of waiting for something that frightens you...it isn't easy for anyone. I think all you can do is try not to think about it too much and when you do, tell yourself "it is good - something I worry about/have worried about is being looked into."

Also you have had this for two years....I would say whatever it is, it is not likely to be serious??? Keep us posted smile

Adding to that, if it was VERY serious I think they would get you in before 6 weeks.  I am myself in the wait for some medical tests and I try to not think about it but it is hard.  My one friend tells me that for the most part medical test rule stuff OUT, so the liklihood of a negative result is less than finding out that you do NOT have something terrible.

You should be appreciative you are seing a specialist. Im in the usa and here i would and do only see specialists. An optician is a surface doctor. A soecilaist knows exactly whatbthey are seeing and looking for and can check for many ailments. Very thourough. Its a good thing.

    Hello

Believe me when I say you get used to the wait, I have tests and treatments at least every six weeks and now I accept the wait, sometimes the eyes dilate at shorter or longer times as the light entering the eye may be slightly different.

Your Opticion is having it checked, all I can suggest is just wait and all will get sorted for you.

Thank you everyone...I also went to my GP today who there isn't anything to worry about. He said I am having tension headaches and prescribed me Codine, althouh I am hesitant to take it as I don't like taking pain killers but will take paracetamol if need be.

I feel relieved but will still have the test, after all it is free and maybe they can shed some light on why my pupil does it even if its nothing to worry about...

Feeling much better now, it's strange how bipolar I get about it...if I rewinded a few hours I was a sobbing mess. Anyway thank you for your words. I love how supportive this forum is smile
